It's been too long since we had some non-wing cars up at Knoxville. I wonder if any WAR regulars will make the tow up to Knoxville?

Great news, might be able to fit this into my yearly drive East...

It would be cool if they could bring USAC back for Nationals week too...

Hope USAC brings out enough for a full field. Can't see too many locals taking the wing off myself especially when they can run Jackson that weekend with the Outlaws.

I highly doubt we'll ever see USAC back during Nationals week.  Worst attended race of the 10 days every year they were there.  For whatever reason, a lot of people just wouldn't come watch.

If some of the WAR series guys come up they can get a full field. They might not want to travel as far as Knoxville though and their engines might not handle a big track like Knoxville well.

I wonder if any incentive for double duty will be offered. That could make it more interesting. Not to mention the WAR series which may be able to draw 10 or so car if the pay is decent and if they aren't running elsewhere that weekend. I haven't seen the WAR schedule come out yet so maybe theres more to come and maybe someone has more knowledge about it and they could let us know. Smile Pretty cool news though as this winter weather sets in I couldn't be more excited for spring.

How was the turnout & car count for Midwest swing last time?

If memory serves me correctly, they had a good draw on the first night at Lakeside, but the second night they battled weather the entire day.   They got the races in, but a lot of people did not show up.   I would guess that the entire weekend was a push for the promoter.

Eagle had 20 in 2016,  I believe around 18-20 the two previous years that I went. Lakeside had the same on Sat, but I understand they lost a few on Sun.   There was a show in Minn the day or two before Eagle but I don't remember car count.   Not sure if we could estimate Knoxville car count based on Eagle or Lakeside since the track is so much bigger and faster.

I have no idea what would be considered a good fan count at Eagle,   The two previous to 2016 were in late April and the weather was the promotors worse friend.....crappy but not bad enough to cancel.  (I waited out the mist in parking lot until I heard motors in 2015 and it started raining before I got back to my car).    The late June 2016 show was much better attended.

EaglePitShackGuy stated in another post that USAC was not going west of the Mississippi river in 2017 so they booked a big WAR show in early September.   I got the gist from his comment that Eagle WANTED to host another Rumble in the Bullring but was told no by USAC......maybe I mis-interpreted something.

USAC is actually going to pair up I-80 Speedway and Knoxville Raceway that weekend. I-80 Speedway will run Friday night, June 2nd and us fans can drive 3.5 hour East to catch them running at Knoxville Raceway on June 3rd. I'm looking VERY forward to this non wang weekend!!!!!!

I love non winged racing but to me they are much better suited to a 3/8 or less track. The side by side racing inches apart is amazing. Some dont like the high straight away speeds if something happens .Not many wing guys will run both but guys like Haud and a few others are very good without.

hard to have double duty when the 410's aren't on the schedule that night.  They have that night off.  360's and 305's will be with them as support classes.

Very much looking forward to this! It's great for Knoxville fans to see some different racing and meet some guys we only read about. The USAC drivers do a great job with fans in the pits after the races. Hoping for a good car count and fans in the stands to make this a yearly deal.

I strongly disagree,  The last race on an actual half mile (Terre Haute) back in October had 26 unofficial lead changes in 30 laps!

It is time for all of the keyboard promoters to get out of the house and go to the races.   I don't know how many times I have read that USAC should go back to Knoxville.   If you want it to happen, you need to go buy a ticket to the race.

I believe the 410's were not going to race at Knoxville on June 3rd was because of the deal Knoxville, Jackson MN, and badlands had worked out for special 410 shows. BUT with badlands reportedly closing up this next year makes Me wonder if Knoxville won't put the 410's back on the schedule.

Knoxville wasn't going to run 410's on July 29th because Badlands had their big Gold Cup Race. When they announced the sale and closing, Knoxville added 410's back on the schedule. They are not running Winged 410's on June 3rd because Jackson has a big 3 day Outlaw show. USAC was added on June 3rd to fill out their Sat. night show, not much crossover with winged and non-winged cars or drivers.
