A few of our top teams seem to be getting mad that Montieth comes from 23rd every week...lol. They want the tire rule and twelve car inversion revoked. They're also pissed about wing changes for next year and the proposed banning of cockpit adjusters......
12. CAR SPECIFICATIONS
12.1 Body
o) No cockpit adjustable components with the exception of brake bias are permitted. No adjusters for adjustable shocks, hydraulic or pneumatic weight jacks, trackers, ignition boxes or similar adjustable components of any kind are permitted inside the cockpit of the car or within reach of the seated driver. Taping over of the adjuster(s) is not permitted. The offending component must be removed from the cockpit.
12.8 Spoiler and Spoiler Supports
b) The maximum overall length of the material used on the rear spoiler is eight inches (8”). The maximum width of the rear spoiler and supports is seventy two inches (72”).
12.20 Tires
a) All tires may have a maximum size of eleven inches (11”) by twenty nine inches (29”) by fifteen inches (15”), unless otherwise specified. b) Maximum circumference, ninety three inches (93”), unless otherwise stated. c) Maximum width (sidewall to sidewall) sixteen and three quarters inches (16.75”). No Tolerance. Tire Hoops will be used, and must pass freely over tire. d) Open tire rule unless advertised for special or joint events. Max tire hoop width is sixteen and three quarters inches (16.75”). e) Illegal tires will result in disqualification from the the event.
12.21 Engine
a) Only V8 engines will be permitted with no limit on cubic inch displacement.
.......oh wait, my bad, those are the late model rules...lol. Lord, I apologize...
While, I agree, there is no way in hell the Outlaws should be making any major wing changes for next year this late in the season without giving our teams 2008 to get rid of their current inventory, changes do need to eventually be made. I keep hearing a 6" thickness, with a flat top, 1" wickerbill and maybe the left side lowered. Also, the tire rule is NOT enough, they should have went to a smaller tire yet like the late models did. And cockpit adjusters SHOULD be banned like they are in most other series.
The last I heard the sprint cars were still too expensive. Top teams are still getting out because of the cost and motor bills haven't gone down any even with the current tire rule. Costs instead keep going up and up, even though our local purses have remained the same for decades. While I'll agree it's still somewhat reasonable to campaign a 410 on a short track, our half miles have especially been out of control for as long as anyone can remember. Sooner or later common sense has to take over?
Guys like Rahmer are in the twilight of their careers, you'd think they'd be trying to help the situation out some instead of trying to finish it off once and for all?

Monteith is the exception and only for the fact that he runs the ragged edge of disaster week in and week out. One-third of the time he tags the wall and tears up his car, trying to live up to his "The Edge" moniker. He's talented, but hardly a threat to run up front every week.
I'm sure everyone strives to be that good.

How about a left rear tire rule, too? Take away the cockpit adjusters. How about an injector rule or a compression rule for the motors?

I don't know, you only hear a few of the top teams complaining they need MORE tire to be competitive. Most people say it's the same for everyone, just leave it alone.

How about a motor claim rule?? Easy as hell to police and will most definitely cause teams to limit what they spend.

scoop, the IMCA claim rule has not kept spending down.
It is funny to see guys still spending several thousand on an engine that claims for a few hundred.
Wanna lower the costs, put a claim on the tractor and trailers hauling the cars lol lol lol

The IMCA no longer has a Engine Claim rule in the Sprint Car Class.
It has been replaced by a Cylinder Head Claim rule.

If they want to reduce costs for the teams, they should leave things alone.
If they want the racing to remain great, they should leave the rules alone.
If they change the rules and free the cars up, the racing will be crap..the gap between Schatz, Saldana and the rest of the field will only widen... these guys and a few others are the only ones who can run the throttle properly... The rules as they are now actually make the racing easier for guys with a lot less talent and keep the racing closer and more entertaining.
If they change the wing rules ...the teams may as well dump all the chassis they have (not to mention the wings they already have)... don't assume they do this at the end of every year anyway, because they don't.... if they change the rules it will be back to 86-40 15 year old rubbish technology ... MORE EXPENSE FOR THE LESSER TEAMS AS WELL AS THE BIG ONES.
IF they make these major changes ...WHICH teams do you think will work out how to hook the car up up better than the next guy first ....again widening the gap between the good guys and the not so good...
Just like when they got rid of wicker bills, it will take years of crap racing before we have a year like this season with more feature winners than ever before ...
NOT TO MENTION THE FLOW ON EFFECT IT HAS THROUGH THE REST OF THE RACING ASSOCIATIONS AND THE LOCAL RACETRACKS>>> what do these guys do ...why should they be forced into telling their local guys that they need new wings and more than likely new chassis... DO THE WOO HOO HAVE SO MUCH POWER OVER THIS WHOLE INDUSTRY ????????
If you like non-wing racing ...head for Indiana, this is wing sprintcar racing leave it alone .....

No spec engines please! In fact they ought to do away with the 410 limit altogether, the late models don't seem to need it. 15" wide RR and less wing should be more than enough to bridge the gap between the haves and havenots a little. Haud would be pretty impressive with a big block under the hood again back on a narrow tire. Drive 'er driver!

The WoO Sprint Cars and Late Models each have forty page rule books. Not bad considering a lot of other series. To change the tire rule all they would basically have to do is change a few measurements, and the wing rule they have now is too convoluted as it is, that's half the problem. Better yet to abolish the 410 limit all they would have to do is take a sentence out!
