I believe this company is partially responsible for Road to Knoxville and Showdown at Eldora. Hopefully they will make this game much better.

how come Road to Knoxville is so dis-liked?   Showdown at Eldora is not so great but i think Road to Knoxville is awesome.    just curious to see why people don't like it.

i figured that was the reason as i've seen reviews on Amazon. who gives a ratt's ass if you're not racing Steve Kinser or Sammy. the cars you race against look real and are tough to beat at the "pro" level. the tracks are great and yeah you really got drive and concentrate to do well. what's wrong with that. the only thing that i don't like is that you can't save anything in the "championship" mode as you have to race the whole season in one sitting.

if anyone cares i won the championship last night by 6 point over Freddie Lindfield!!!!

If they don't do it right, I'll stick with the PS2 version. And, yes, I wanna beat Schatz, Kinser, McCarl and more at it, not Freddie Lindfield....

i agree. give me Schatz in the Armor-all car and Dollansky in the 19. and make it option to unlock Donny in the family 15 and Dollansky in the VMAC 7. then i would buy the game. and 4 players on multiplayer.

shhhh........

dont wanna let that cat out of the bag...

yeah - road to knoxville sucked. i have it just as a novelty - there are not many sprint car games out there. they need a newer and improved version of the rat bag game...........

new tracks. new drivers. lil bit better graphics. the highlight of road to knoxville was racin a freakin hovercraft. something about that just aint right......

some things you have to think about when making a racing game:

classes

Tracks

series

drivers

modes(arcade and career)

hopefully this time they made the right choices on this. it may be a yearly thing because not too often do you see a game with a year in the title being a one year only type of game. ex Madden has year after its games because there is a new game every year. the only exception to this would be WoO Sprint Cars 2002. (Ratbag went out of business soon after)

THQ has always produced crap for racing "simulation" games. The physics don't translate well at all. 2002 by Ratbag is the best for a sprint car console racer. Granted the graphics are dated and there are still flaws with the game such as the restarts, but overall the "feel" of the car is what is important. Today everybody is worried about how realistic can the game be. The problem is, no matter how much data a programmer puts into the physics, it does not make a great game. The sensations you get from being in the race car cannot translate over a simulation. This isn't saying the game if done correctly can't give you an idea of what it would be like and be fun, it's just not the same. Console games today tend to be over-engineered and leave the "player" feeling underwhelmed.

Big Ant produced the latest two installments for sprint cars for the console market. Both have terrible

physics and make me wonder if they even understand how a sprint car works as far as set up and the

types of tracks. Ratbag was bought out by two (?) different compaines and then disbanded all thogether. I don't understand why they didn't just buy the Ratbag physics engine and just improve or model it after that. If they did do this, then they did a terrible job. The game that had the super long tracks and sprint car shifting gears was TOCA Pro Race Driver 3 by Codemasters. Absolutely terrible game for sprint cars. Best "feeling" race game for the console is Ralli Sport Challenge 2 for the original Xbox. The feel and sense of speed in the game is awesome.....now if they would just apply that to a sprint car game it would be great. I don't care if there are real drivers in a game (I mean it's a plus, don't get me wrong), I just want the game to play well and stick to the fundamentals of sprint car racing.

Now how do I get off this horse?.........lol.

since this game looks like it is a part of WoO, maybe it will have real drivers, real races, and the real schedule. that would be nice.

so what are your thoughts of a new game? what are some ideas that you think could work? just curious to see the different ideas. I think that if they come out with a WoO game (Sprints, LM, or both) then it should probably have 1. the drivers of that series 2. tracks of that series 3. Schedule exactly like that series. include big races also ex: Kings Royal, World 100, the DirtCar Nationals, the World Finals, etc

i'm no expert but since it will be on the new consoles won't they HAVE to make a new game engine?

and i would like to see in the new game

real WOO drivers.

unlockable old paint schemes. maybe even old drivers. I.E Swindell. M Kinser, Wolfgang. etc

maybe a couple of Knoxville locals and Posse locals

hire a driver. if you have to much money buy a 2nd team and hire an outlaw or support series driver to drive it.

and start your career running a weekly track. like Knoxville or Williams Grove. or atleast make it an option.

If you are serious about racing sprints online, check out http://www.rfactor.net/. This game is basically an engine for various racing mods including sprints (wing/non-wing), late models, and modfieds. There are people working on a midget mod also. You have to buy the rfactor game, but ALL the mods are FREE to download. Also check out http://www.sbsracing.net/ for the sprint mod as well as just about every track download you could imagine.
