Magic Answer, these huge bluffs were caused by the pushed dirt being left when the glaciers melted BINGO.

Just to interject a little science, of all the Carbon Dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, 51 percent is from plants and trees, 45 percent from the oceans, and only three percent from the burning of fossil fuels. Not only that, CO2 only accounts for 0.035 percent of our atmosphere. But all you hear is that "levels have increased by "X" percent. When compared to the overal volume and percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere, changes are miniscule. Warming originates from other sources, including the varying intensities of the sun. Of course, there is no way to exert political control over the intensity of the sun, so there is no political capital there.
In general, I tend not to believe too much of what I see on TV.

- within the data you cite, how many temperature sensors have been relocated in the last 5 years?
- what criteria was used to determine the new locations?
- when you cite average temperature comparisons to a previous decade or century, what temperature sensors do you reference for those eras?
- do you wash your hands after you wipe?

So here's a question . . . .
What does it hurt to reduce fossil fuel consumption, you know . . . . just in case? What's the down side to conserving energy, not dumping so much CO into the atmosphere, and cutting back on our dependence on oil?
Give me a handful of reasons why it's a bad idea to play it safe and be nice to the planet just in case.
When I made the switch to organic produce and set up my farm share with a local grower's CSA, I didn't necessarily believe the "chemicals and hormones in your food will kill you" stories, but I asked myself "What will it hurt?" The *possible* benefits far outweighed the *possible* side-effects in a matter where there was no flawless and exact scientific evidence on either side.

Ok, if they wanted to get rid of sprint car racing then even i'd object. I actually find that the scarcity of our natural resources is a much bigger issue than global warming. Global warming seems to take center stage, but I feel that the fact that we are at or past our peak in oil production is a much bigger problem. And hey if the sprint cars start to run on ethanol, then we won't have a problem.

So if you're really approaching this from the standpoint of personal rights that shouldn't be controlled by the government, couldn't the same argument be applied to many of the other debates you and I have had on here?
For example, if I can't tell you to drive a Prius, why should you be allowed to tell me I can't marry a woman? That she and I can't adopt a baby? That she and I can't be covered on each other's health insurance policies and receive all of the other rights that a married hetero couple receive from the government.
Regulation of sex is just as much of a whack-job Conservative agenda item as environmental control is to the liberals. When an agenda is established, pressure applied for regulation,

IMO: the govt does not bestow rights. rights come from the creator and are only infringed upon by govt. it is clearly laid out in the founding documents...however, it is vogue for one to co-mingle "rights" with "benfits" since many have bought into the entitlement society. started by FDR and later expanded by LBJ and nothing but a race to the bottom since. the great society became so great that people are bitching from sun up to sundown everywhere you look.
last time i cheked, taxation descriminates against SOMEONE's peronal choices everytime they are not applied as a FLAT TAX WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

The one thing i have feared is someone trying to take away sprint car racing or racing in general. And when hearing about global warming, cleaner fuels, and our President...... How we suppose to make scence of this... It is a fact that our chemicals from exaust is a problem... Thats why we dont run races indoors for the most part. But hearing about a cleaner fuel, and learning more about ethanol, it seems to be an altenative. However when checking around for a conversion kit from gas to ethonal it cost only 100 dollars or so. But the kicker is that somebody in office years ago pass this bill where if a citizen wants to convert the car for this, you have to give your car to the government for 50,000 miles and pay 25 thousand dollars... WHY... cause they wanna make sure your car will be cleaner burning.... duh... thats what we already know. OH did i mention the President.... Yeah.... ok he might know some people who wouldnt benifit from cars not running on oil......Heck ethanol has been used in drag racing for years..... The only thing we need to figure out is how to get the methonal smell back into the ethonal... good day.....

Man, I'd be in trouble if ethanol smelled like a sprint car. I work in HVAC for a company with more than a dozen trucks that all run E85. I'd stand in the warehouse for an hour every morning just to inhale the fumes. I'd totally fry my brain.
Of course, from Duane's opinion of me, it sounds like there are people who don't think that would make a difference anyway.

Sprint Cars have been using Ethanol for many years.
Remember the Ethanol Classic, the race that Bruce Nemuth took away from us so he could cram Late Models down our throat?
Randy Droescher runs 85% ethanol in his sprinter and raced well enough to win a new car for his season points last year, not bad for a late 50's driver.
That corn field you drive by on the way to the races can be your oil well, and it smells beter that Western Kansas on the Interstate lol
