And yes, BRR, Al Gore is a hypocrite.

Rogue, a better analogy is to take a pan, put an inch of water in it, set a brick in it, and then cover the brick with ice cubes and let them melt. Ice in a glass is floating on water. Glaciers and portions of the ice caps are not just floating - they are sitting on land.

Of course, a better experiment is to pour vodka over the ice in the glass and then drink it before the ice can melt. We're saving the world here, people.

Kettle One, tonic water, ice and LIME...you see...add some LIME to the mix and the problem goes away.

i have no problem with liberal skunks bearing the brunt of the worrying and premature panic...most folks like warm weather better than snow anyway.

1-2 degree rise in 100 years is not a big deal when you consider that some of the "scientists" have placed the measurement stations right beside air conditioning units to SKEW the readings...and precisley where were the measueement stations located "100 years ago"?

from this article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/01/14/wglob14.xml

Some researchers suspect that the fault may again lie with the ground-based temperature measurements. They say that many of the data come from stations surrounded by growing urban sprawl, whose warmth could give a misleading figure. A study of data taken around Vienna, Austria, between 1951 and 1996 found that the air temperature rose by anything from zero to 0.6°C, depending on precisely where the measurements were made.

in other words...move the sensors AWAY from Al Gore and Teraaaaaayza Heinz-Kerry and the HOT AIR GOES AWAY!

So just out of curiosity, if I RANDOMLY CAPITALIZE and highlight and make certain words bigger for no logical reason, does it make me look smarter or is it obvious that I'm one of those people who likes the sound of my own voice far too much and this is the only way I could figure out how to translate that self-aggrandizing attention-whoring to message board text?

everybody hears the word global warming and thinks that implies that earth is turning into the sun. Most agree that burning fossil fuels and all the excess carbon is not good for the environment. global warming could in fact trigger another ice age, but in the end it just don't matter what is goin on. It doesn;t matter if burning of fossil fuels is what in fact screws up the environment.........a bunch of dumb shits will claim it's a liberal myth because in the end........it doesn't matter to most stupid people in this country what the issue actually is.......it's whether or not you are a conservative or liberal and whichever you are you tune to your corresponding news channel to have your opinion fed to you because you don't have the wit or the balls to think for yourself. Or maybe it is just too much effort.

The planet in the end would be fine......if not for it's inhabitants screwing it up.......especially those who inhabit the western hemisphere.

When gas gets to a point most can't pay for it......and there is not a viable alternative.......I wonder who these people will blame then???? I imagine it will again be liberals fault. Most think that it's the liberals fault we don't get the oil in alaska......but lets say we did get it.....and we have 20 more years of oil for our beloved chevy's and fords........then what happens after that runs out??? There's no point in delaying the inevitable, screwing the environment, all because people love their cars? people need to grow up.

What will they be saying billions of years from now when our sun runs out of fuel and burns out like all stars eventually do? That's a known fact, stars don't last forever.

duchess - the obvious seldom appeals to liberals as they cherrypick scientist for preferntial funding...the left is famous for demanding special treatment so i try to include a little extra emphasis to help them satisfy their miserable journey!

if your platform relies on taking temperature readings from "certain" locations favored over others to support an agenda driven result...it is not science, but rather liberal arts.

OKC - amazing that you can say that GLOBAL WARMING causes GLOBAL COOLING...then tell us which came first...the bull or the bullshit?

you may have just presented the best argument to ignore enviro-idiots that feed on hot air from wind bags like Algore...who incidentally has a carbon footprint that dwarfs the combined total of most extended families. now tell, since you brought it up...who signs his check?

as long as gas has more TAX )30-50 cents per gallon) per gallon than PROFIT (8-10 cents per gallon) talk to the idiots in DC about their appetite for price gouging the taxpayer.

fact: warm climates provide most of the food that feeds the entire planet..as opposed to those gnarly turnips that canadians pull out of the ground.

btw: when ice melts in a glass it does not OVERFLOW...try it sometime.

just mention SKUNKS and they all show up...

when you fill a glass with water then put ice on a plate above it and let it melt it will run off the plate into the glass and WA LA, your cup runith over. not all the ice and snow on the polar caps are already displacing any water in the oceans.now IF all the ice and snow was already floating in the ocean your theory would hold water. (pun intended).

i know, a couple of people beat me to it but i am on west coast time.

all the rivers of the world empty intop the oceans 24/7...every day of every year in the history of the planet...yet sea level is still sea level.

where is the water going? where does it come from?

if this feeble "fear of coastal flooding" was such a huge concern...you skunks would have moved inland centuries ago. if you are in fact true to form, certinaly you must start banning wells to save the world from the great flood.

please continue the double standard that provides us with endless entertainment!

dude......people still live in low-lying coastal areas because 364 says they love the view and dumb enough to hope that the other 1 day when a hurricane might bring storm surge that they won't be home. Thats not a statement relative to lib. or cons. but just stupid people. But I live in Oklahoma nd you live in PA either of us could get hit by a tornado (lol I did on May 8th) and people could call us stupid for the same reason.

You've went off on 3 or 4 rants since the last time I even signed into Hoseheads. Do you keep remembering different things or are you cruisin on over to the Fox News website to have your info spoonfed to you?

shootin fish in a barrel? thats funny b/c it's awfully hard to spot you in that herd of blind sheep..........

didnt watch any news today...too busy, get most of my print news online anyway. local papers are into behaviour modification thru indoctrination. they are slowly going out of business because they are too dumb to publish the liberal bullshit in spanish and e-bonics so that the cattle can absorb it.

by the way...you side stepped why sea level is not rising when every river on the planet is pouring into it 24/7 at a staggering rate. is this the "soft underbelly" of Gore lie...or just another inconvenient fact that you have bought a reserved seat on the bullshit bus?

Look up hydrologic cycle, BRR. rivers are created by runoff from rain that flow to points of low elevation. This flows into the ocean, where it evaporates and causes more rain. It's a global cycle. When you start melting the polar ice caps you're adding water that wasn't a part of this cycle, as it was trapped as ice on the poles, much like carbon is trapped under the ground as fossil fuels. As the polar ice caps melt it becomes water, capable of flowing into the ocean and adding water to the cycle. With more water in the hydrologic cycle, water levels are going to rise. Quite simple.

History tells us the Earth has already had us under water here in Iowa as part of a shallow sea, it's been a jungle, and its been under some big glaciers. I doubt this pattern will change just because we don't want it to happen. We're just a speck in all of this anyway, so let's talk sprint cars.

p.s. I'm guessing CSI Miami might become CSI Orlando, huh?

To all of the BONE HEADED wackos that believes ALBORE about global warming, ask yourself this.

How were the Losses Hills formed near Council Bluffs Iowa?

Magic Answer, these huge bluffs were caused by the pushed dirt being left when the glaciers melted BINGO.

Man must not be the cause of global warming afterall.

Come on WACKO's, get on the band wagon for a more believable scare that only a fellow liberal WACKO can save you from.
