And then there is Sweden, who has 400,000 more people than the state of Michigan and didn't shut down there economy.   Everything in Michigan was in tight lockdown and is run by one of the worst governors out there.   And which one had better coronavirus results?

Guess who's tired of selfish a$$holes who think not wearing a mask is somehow a sign of courage.

Guess who is tired of supporting sheep who stayed holed up through all this while complaining that those who have been working don't keep everything they want on store shelves.

I think there's truth on both sides of this argument (as there usually is).

Wearing a mask doesn't make you a sheep and can mitigate some of the risk of passing COVID-19 to others.

But also the "experts" who shop in doom and gloom and the real sheep that follow their every word should also be held accountable for getting things wrong.

ahh  guys, I just have to shake my head.  at the same time I'm reading your list of what makes you happy and what makes you sad...  at the same time.... 1,000 Americans are dying each and every day from this virus that we have as a country so badly mismanaged.... that means by the time you read this.. a couple more thousand will die...    and you whimper over a  mask or a political leader telling you to stay home...  You whimper of course only if the political leader is of the wrong party.....

If you... if any of you.... think we got this one right you need to re-evaluate that...  sometimes when there is trouble helping is a better idea.... try that one for a while....

Had we simply managed the nursing home situation in 5 states better our numbers would probably be around half of what they are now, which would be a really bad flu season.

Had the states that re-opened in April-early May listened to the "experts", our economy would be in even worse shape and the 2.5M jobs that were created in May would have likely been more lost jobs. And there's been no meaningful rise in cases.

The US is at about 60% of the death rate in the UK, Italy, Spain and had certain governors managed the nursing home popualtion better, we'd be even lower, probably at Germany's level.

this is from an article in the New England Journal of Medicine.... second paragraph in the article.

pretty musch sums it up to me

We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

The problem is, they didn't get it "all wrong".  Without the actions that they took, which so many disagree with, we could be looking at a million dead.  So they took strong action, which was unpopular, but saved lives.

Would you prefer that nothing was done, a million people had died, and then the complaint would be, "They got it wrong!" and, an extra 900,000 people would be dead.  If the virus hasn't affected you, it's because of the action to stop the virus.

You cant prove that anything that was done did anything.  Judging by places that did very little, we still would not have a death toll in the millions and probably not much different than what it is now.  Your just guessing.  This is bigger than us.  It will take its course just like a hurricane or earthquake.  Nothing your going to do.  Mask or no mask.  Soon time people accept that and live their lives.

The "model" that predicted 2.2 million deaths in the US early on was debunked.

And I am not saying it was wrong to shutdown for a bit. But the doom and gloom people who said all of Georgia and FLorida were doomed for restarting the economy were proven wrong.

In terms of raw numbers, Michigan currently has more cases, however, that will change in the very near future. Which of these graphs looks better to you long term? If you can honestly look at these and say that social distancing/stay-at-home efforts don't work, then you are bad at data.

The same dude that predicted at least 1 million deaths in the country also predicted that Sweden would have over 90,000 deaths because they didn't lock down.   How many did they have?    Ain't buying the million dead thing and never did.

Thank you. I saw a comedian say this past weekend something I truely believe with: "Everyone should have one special person to share their innermost thoughts with, because the rest of us don't give a shit."

Yet they've still manage to kill approximately 1000 less people and haven't wrecked their economy doing it.
