Interesting are they sticking with #15?

This has been in the works for awhile i believe, I've heard that STP was not a fun company to deal with at all, so this was more mutual. STP and TSR has also separated but Schatz has a new sponsor ready to go for 2015.

Does this open the door for Lucas to become more involved?   At least get some WoO on MavTV?

Not surprised.  Outside of a few marquee races, most of the events have 3000 people in the stands (because that's all the tracks hold).  For a big company like Clorox (which owns the Armoured Auto Group), the #'s probably just didn't add up.

Sadly, I think the WRG has themselves overpriced, as it took them YEARS to land a title sponsor (STP), then as soon as they could get out (the agreement was supposed to go THROUGH 2015 if I remember correctly), they got out and again there is no title sponsor (and argueably, this is as popular as winged sprint car racing has been since the TNN days due to people like Tony Stewart and Kyle Larson being big proponents).

I'd like to think the WRG has been in talks with Lucas Oil Products, but Lucas is very tight with Emmett Hahn and the ASCS.  Can't see them sponsoring competing series (albeit 360 and 410 series, they are still competitors for cars and fans).

I really hope the WoO partner with MavTV. There are some awesomw races that I hope are showed live this year like the Kings Royal, Knoxville Nationals, and World Finals

It'd be awesome if Lucas got involved, they are doing amazing things for motorsports. I just wonder how they juggle all of their sponsorship deals.

Either way, WoO is a sure bet for any sponsor, I'm sure some big company will come through.

Regardless if there is or isn't any strife internally, the idea of being in business is to make money.  If the WoO is such a sure bet, why is STP leaving?

Just my humble opinion, but I can't see what difference it would make if they sponsored both series.  They do not run in the same towns on the same nights.  I think it could only be positive because a lot of people have heard of Lucas.   Who knows, surely not me, but maybe it would benefit both series if they had double headers.  It would benefit the fans for sure.  Again, only opinions

I highly doubt there's any talking between the 2 given they are rivals on the late model front.

I can't see Forrest Lucas/Lucas Oil getting involved with WoO/WRG due to the competition between the two competing late model series. I could be wrong but isn't Forrest Lucas and his companies involved with MAVTV??

I have loved Sprint Car racing since 1960 but once again it appears to have hit a glass ceiling.  Sprint Car racing has the longest history of many comparable niche forms of motorsports but at the end of the day it is what it is.  That's not a bad thing, I never expected anything more from the sport than to go out to my local track and be entertained.  The sport has not dissapointed in that regard.  A decade ago all the talk was about corporate sponsors, affiliation with NASCAR and expanded television coverage.

Today the television is limited to a cable channel that many (myself included) can't get through our cable/internet provider and a bunch of hit or miss streaming broadcasts that are often a roll of the dice as far as quality.  NASCAR's involvement is mostly to snatch promising drivers from our midst (refer to today's announcement about Rico going Stock Car racing).  Publicity the past couple of years has been brutal and this could have had some bearing on this most recent decision.  As far as corporate sponsors, I guess the jury is still out on that but I think the point about most races playing out to crowds of 3,000 is going to limit those opportunities as well.

Everyone may not agree with my assesment but I'm perfectly happy with where Sprint Car racing is today.  I can still go out and see them at many of the same tracks I used to drive my first car to back in 1967.  The ticket prices haven't shot through the roof like most other forms of entertainment.

Sponsors are important in this day and age and I hope the WoO lands another one but I don't look for this sport to ever get much bigger among the masses than it is today.  Keep in mind that Sprint Car racing or Big Cars as my dad used to call them have been around since the early part of the 20th Century.  They have experienced ebbs and flows of increased and decreased popularity but it always settles back into it's place as a niche sport.  I'm OK with that and have been around long enough to know not to expect much to ever change.

Or one that would try to expand into some new markets

I'm just kind've wondering why the STP announcement is now and wasn't at the end of the season in early Nov. 2014. Seems the Outlaws would've had at least a little more time to try and drum up a sponsor that way. Oh well. It's all way above my pay grade like our Great Leader once said.

I want to see what the 15 car looks like and who the new main sponsor for it is!

When in doubt, throttle it out.
