Be prepared for a shit storm coming for posting about prayer/religion on a sprint car forum. I didn't know people still believe angels are real. But hey, I still believe in Santa Clause.
I'll stop and lower my head for someone who recently passed, but not for something someone else believes is real.

You still have to show some respect for others. You do not have to listen to prayer, but respect those that do by stoping for a few seconds and maybe just think about the drivers or your family.

We need all the prayer we can get. Even if you have the infinite amount of faith it takes to believe everything a 16 second lap at the Grove takes to happen evolved from slime, have some respect for the spiritual folks.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I see the same thing too. What really gets me is the disrespect shown to the flag and our National Anthem anymore. Some people can't be bothered to shut up for a minute or even take their hat off. As a career military guy and with all of our guys and gals still in harm's way, it just burns me to no end. I've said something a few times, but I'm the "d_ick" when I do. And I'll pray for those who hold to no higher power than themselves.

All you have to do is look at the leaders of our country to see what kind of shape our country is in spirtually

I'm far from the most religious fella in the world, but you can bet that when I'm strapped in my car (or even if I'm not) during the prayer, I'm praying my ass off asking for everyone to go home safe and uninjured and all of our cars to be ok.
I get mad when I see people being (in my opinion) disrespectful during the prayer or anthem. I get really mad when somone tries their own version of the anthem, or tries anything non-traditional.

So I guess you think the last administration who went to war for oil was on a good "spiritual" path?

Fact is we are producing more oil here in the USA that ever in our history. In fact, we're exporting it!

Brian, did they have a prayer Saturday night? If they did, I missed it. I was in the pit stands for the anthem, but never heard (or saw any others acting like there was) a prayer.

No. Generally don't have a prayer. I gave one opening night several years back at the drivers meeting because I was asked too, but I don't remember one since. Obviously it's a very controversial subject. I am about as bold and open about my faith as you can be, having a church as a sponsor and all, but I am not an in your face kind of guy. I'm glad to talk about it if someone wants too, but I also don't make it uncomfortable for people who don't believe the same as me. As far as the prayer before the anthem goes, I think it's just a respect for your fellow man deal. Even if you don't believe, you can probably stand still and be quiet for the 30 seconds it takes. Kind of like when they have a moment of silence for somebody. Even if you didn't like the person, I'd be willing to bet that you'd still be quiet. All this is just my opinion obviously.
