Would all you christians hold still while others prey to Allah? How about Zeus?

If I was at an event where that is who they prayed too...yes. Disagreement is not an excuse for disrespect in my opinion.

Exactly. That event where you pray is called CHURCH. I can respect that.
But expecting other people to alter thier behavior because you are praying in public is kinda odd and disrespectful also.

So, when you go to a wedding or a funeral, do you walk around and make noises? Again, I just think it's a respect for fellow human deal.

a wedding or a funeral? i believe those are different environments than going out to a race track on a friday and saturday night and paying $$$ to enjoy yourself...pray before, during, after the races for all i care....but be more like your deity and dont judge me or give me a stink eye if i don't do or act as you see fit...
cause if you mind your own buisness then you won't be mindin' mine - hank sr

They said a prayer prior to the National Anthem on Sunday evening @ SSP...That, in and of itself, is why SSP is the best track in all of PA...

Asking other people to believe in the same thing as themselves is ridiculous. I believe unicorns are real. Do you believe me?

Actually, I do...There were many hybrid species created during early man as described in Myths and Legends...
Science today has been doing some fantastic work proving many things to be true in the bible as well as other cultures creation stories...

There was a study done on the brain...That study proved that deeply spiritual people were able to unlock parts of the brain that people who have little or no spiritual values were able to do...
Good news, however, for the non believers....The mind altering drug, LSD, had a simular affect on accessing the same parts of the brain....
Moral, to the half wits who don't believe, use allot of LSD....After all, a mind is a terrible thing to waste...

Matthew 7:1-5........................It seems that a lot of "Christians" here could learn a lot from the Book of Matthew.

You do not have to believe in anything, just keep your mouth shut and stand still for about 1 min. Think about anything you want but show some respect. Are you saying if you were in say Australia and they were playing the Australian National Anthem you should be able to shoot your mouth off and run around like a drunk turkey, or do you show some respect. Well, I doubt if you would so Americans look bad again.

No. Generally don't have a prayer. I gave one opening night several years back at the drivers meeting because I was asked too, but I don't remember one since. Obviously it's a very controversial subject. I am about as bold and open about my faith as you can be, having a church as a sponsor and all, but I am not an in your face kind of guy. I'm glad to talk about it if someone wants too, but I also don't make it uncomfortable for people who don't believe the same as me. As far as the prayer before the anthem goes, I think it's just a respect for your fellow man deal. Even if you don't believe, you can probably stand still and be quiet for the 30 seconds it takes. Kind of like when they have a moment of silence for somebody. Even if you didn't like the person, I'd be willing to bet that you'd still be quiet. All this is just my opinion obviously.

When you pray to your Unicorn, I promise I'll be quiet.
Nobody is asking you to believe in anything - just to have respect for others.

Weddings, funerals, national anthem's. Yes, those deserve the respect of all people toward one another even across different cultures.
If your'e getting irritated by the behavior of the people around you while you are praying, you may be praying in an inappropriate place. And also, if your eyes are closed like they are supposed to be while praying then you won't notice those disrespecful heathens anyway!

EGRAS will appreciate this one.......As I read a Chicago paper's 'Readers Opinion' page recently, a 90 year old Blackhawk fan wrote in saying she doesn't understand why there was so much clapping, cheering, yelling during the National Anthem at a Hawks game. She went on to complain and say that this was not the time to be vocal. She said she was a big fan and she just NOW noticed this? It has been going on since the 1991 All Star Game in Chicago. Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War started on January 17th and the game was played January 19th and the crowd was just very loudly voicing their support for the United States. It has remained a tradition. I am proud to say that I have been able to take part in this and I had chills. Anywhere else I hear the song, it is dead quiet for me.

There is a huge difference between respecting the country that you are from, or anyone else is from for that matter, and showing respect for a prayer in a public place. The way that I see it is if you are going to pray in a public place then there is no reason for me to stop what I am doing to respect your prayer. If I were in a church, at a wedding, at a funeral, or any other place in which it were appropriate to pray I would repsect the wishes of those around me. A public place however is not a place in which I need to show respect to any religion. I paid the same price as you did for the tickets to get in there, I will do as I please. Especailly when I am running a car. I stop for the national anthem and nothing else.
This notion that prayer is somehow as important as respecting a nation is nuts. Notice that most of us who do not believe are not complaining that you are having your prayer, leave those of us who don't believe alone.
