The season's all but over after the Nationals anyway.   Normally they take the week off after than Nationals, then have the championship finals for their weekly show.   Then a week or three after that the LM Nationals and that's it.   We're talking all of two races, and I personally don't give a rat's ass about late models anyway.   This is not that big of a deal.   Hopefully mid April 2021 will roll around and the only thing they'll have to worry about is whether it rains or not.

There was supposed to be sprints this Friday and Saturday

The Late Model Nationals

And then another Friday and Saturday of sprint car racing in Sept.

China Virus will still be here in April and there still won't be an effective vaccine.   The only possible silver lining is that the media may forget about it on Nov 4th when they discover that their effort didn't work as intended.

Yeah, could be.   I also have my doubts about a vaccine, but we'll see.   I didn't know exactly what Knoxville's schedule was, I was going more by what they do during a normal year, which this ain't.    I know they normally don't run their weekly show into September.   Many tracks don't down here either.   I believe this weekend is it for Devils Bowl.

PA Posse country still going strong. Corn country just needs to uncircle their wagons and head east. Brownie is probably fueling up the rig now.

This one is on the people who were there.  Aside from leaving a wet spot on the recliner from pissing ourselves worrying about you we have no involvement.  I am watching every Knoxville race from home and was looking forward to the final four Sprint races and Late Model Nationals.  Let's clear up this misunderstanding here and now.  Those of us pissing ourselves at home want these races to happen so we can watch them too.  Whatever happened at and around the track after the races that spread this thing to the race teams did not originate in my TV room 300 miles north of Knoxville Raceway.  The Knoxville Raceway management made this difficult descision, direct your insults at them.  Personally I appreciate their hard work and how difficult this has been for them.

Knoxville runs the Season Championship 2 weeks after the Nationals and then they are done accept for the Late Model Nationals.

This year is different as they were trying to make up races missed at the beginning of the season.

I'm bummed as I intended on hitting all 4 nights!

Cordova World Series of Drag Racing is cancelled until 2021

Not sure about the Tom Knowles Memorial @ Spoon River

Not much left to do this year in my neck of the woods!!!

Possibly the Old Threashers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant Ia. unless they cancelled it to.

I copied this comment from a social media post but didn't know the person so I am not sharing their name.  I suspected there was more to this story than what happened among the people attending the race.  It sounds like this blew up and affected a lot of people in the area after the race.  Keeping in mind that they were likely going out to eat, going into stores and other places where it blew up.  I have a hunch that the county and state may have influenced their decision based on these kinds of experiences.

"They had a big increase of positive results in the county too. Even had to shut down .......... school for a few days because of it Did not have hardly any cases there all season. My guess is that someone that came in for the race from out of state brought it in and it just spread rapidly. Hope everyone recovers soon."

And this is exhibit A as to why I won't go to a race.  It's not the facility or track management that I'm concerned about, it's not those who are exercising caution and doing all the right things.  It's those who think it's a hoax or no more serious than the flu who I might come into contact with.  This one is on them because the only thing I spread watching from home was cat hair.

Do you attend the Old Threshers reunion in Mt. Pleasant?  My grandfather has his old 1918 tractor in the museum out there.  Smile

Unecessary hostility to a long time fan who was brave enough to serve our country

Guess what.... we can do PLENTY of living without going to sprint car races

If all you guys would wear masks, EVERYBODY could have gone

Interesting that your signature says unless you know a person you don't care what they think, yet, he should care what you think, eh?

Disappointed by the announcment, but it's not the end of race season here in the Midwest; three solid weekends coming up with the Outlaws being within 3-4 hours of knoxville.

The last time I attended a 410 race was a year ago.

I didn't imply that this thing spread in the grandstand.

Anyways, I was sitting at home 300 miles north of Knoxville when this went down so I have nothing to do with it.  Why the hell should you care how a senior citizen in a high risk category watches thier racing and what's the difference how many races I attend or what I can or can't afford?  I watched something like six Features over the weekend from all over the country without even putting a mile on my van.  What's not to like about that?

Looking through your post you haven't read most of what I have posted.  I never said anything bad about the track but I am dissapointed that people had to rub shoulders too closely resulting in the cancelation of the five remaining races that I had planned on watching on PPV.  Apparently you see one thing in a post that you don't agree with and you go off without reading the rest.  The Karen thing and insulting a guy who has been married fifty years by calling him Karen was straight out of Jr. High.  Look man, I hold no grudge or Ill will against anyone on here, this is just a sports forum about Sprint Car racing where people have discussions about the pros and cons of the issues of the day just like any other sports forum.  Apparently you must be upset by the cancellation and are projecting that onto me but I had nothing to do with it.  I live six hours from there and haven't been there in ten years so yeah, there ya' go.  My concerns are about tracks in general as I had planned on going to one race but this deal changed my mind.  I'm not seeing where any of those observations deserve the kinds of insults you're throwing around for no damn reason.

Back on Topic.

As a local (I live in Knoxville), I can tell you that there are people sick in town, some related to working at the track, others not.

IMO, the outbreak at the track falls squarely on the World of Outlaws. They RENTED the track so they could hold the One and Only event, and then oversold tickets (was supposed to be limited to 3500 on frontstretch (that seats around 13000 or so and 2500 backstretch (that seats 7000), the math for the backstretch made zero sense to get to that #.

When people arrived, if they had kids under 12, they got a FREE Ticket for their kids in the same grandstand as them (this is where the big issue happened, 3500 total should have been 3500, not 3500 and another 400-1000 kids). Same thing on the backstretch. This made social distancing very difficult, even though they blocked off all odd #'d rows and announced endlessly about leaving 3 seats between you and the group next to you.

Secondly, a driver (if you have Twitter, you know which one), admitted he was sick upon arrival, yet the Outlaws did no testing (not even temperature checks) so he raced sick which he shouldn't have been allowed to do, and it broke the protocols that the Outlaws supposedly were following. The other teams that that driver travels with also ended up having positives in their camps.

Fans had to police other fans to keep 3 seats between your group and the group next to you. Since the Outlaws sold all tickets and did everything as GA, fans were showing up at 8:00 PM after time trials and wanted to sit in row 30 and squeezed in in seats that shouldn't have been used because they didn't want to go early like those sitting in those seats did.

Unfortunately, the racetrack took all the blame in the local television media and here we are 2 weeks later and the Outlaws are still not acknowledging their part in it.

This put the Fairboard and track in a tight spot IMO, and there is no answer that makes everyone happy.
Do you continue to race and have the same thing in Mid-September with the Late Models?
Do you cancel and make people mad?
Do you not cancel and have more restrictions put on your business by the state or require fans to wear masks (and take their ire on social media) and then make them more mad when you have security telling people to put their mask on or they will have to leave the property?

IMO, it SUCKS as a race fan that they canceled. As a resident, they likely did the right thing given the current positivity rate in our County (14.9% as of 8/24/20) which consists of Knoxville, Pella, Pleasantville, Melcher-Dallas and Bussey (roughly 20,000 people).

From the rumors I heard during the One and Only event, Dingus got a warning from the state on Thursday about enforcing social distancing inside the bar/fences / On Friday they got fined and warned that if they couldn't enforce it that the state would be pulling their license for a period of one year, effectively putting them out of business.

This puts AJ in a tight spot as well as the State says he can have 100% capacity, but it's up to him to enforce social distancing (not sure how you do that with drunk people).

As far as one of the earlier posts saying the City Council was meeting about it, not true. The City has ZERO jurisdiction on the Fairgrounds even though it is inside the city limits. The Marion County Board of Supervisors has some control, but not much as they have leased the property to the Marion County Fair Association.

You did NOTHING wrong whatsoever.  Thank you for caring about yourself and the people who surround you.

Also, thanks for your great coverage of racing over the years.
