Bud Keading gearing up for Copper on DirtBy Gary ThomasCampbell, CA – February 3, 2008…Campbell, Calif racer Bud Kaeding is getting ready to kick off his 2008 season at the upcoming Copper on Dirt at the Manzanita Speedway on February 15 & 16. The Copper on Dirt is back for a second straight year following a very successful inaugural running of the event last season at Manzy, which saw 130 cars take to the scary fast ½ mile. Kaeding is coming off a season that saw him win his second straight USAC Silver Crown Series title and he’ll begin his bid for a three peat at the Copper on Dirt, competing once again aboard the BK Motorsports No. 29. The 28 year-old finished last year’s Copper on Dirt in the fourth position and he’ll look to better that result this year in what will hopefully begin a very strong season for the third generation driver. In addition to winning the Silver Crown title last year, Kaeding also picked up his third career Oval Nationals victory at the Perris Auto Speedway when he passed Casey Shuman on the very last lap of the main event. Throughout his career he has also experienced much success at the Manzanita Speedway, including a pair of wins in the prestigious Western World Championships. Last November he finished third at the Western World and also out-qualified 60 entrants for fast time during the Friday night portion of the event. The Copper on Dirt showcases the opening point races for the USAC Silver Crown Series and the USAC National and Western States Midgets. Also on the card during the weekend will be the USAC/CRA 410 wingless sprinters. Fans will be treated to a number of improvements at the track including a new redesigned catch fence, new concessions and new aluminum bleachers.
