Press Release Submitted by StanM on 07/25/2012 at 6:23 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release
July 25, 2012; McHenry, IL - The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series will be hosting its final double-header weekend of July with stops in Western and Northern Wisconsin. On Friday evening, July 27th, the series will make its first ever appearance at the St. Croix Valley Speedway. The quarter-mile clay oval formerly known as Kopellah Speedway has been undergoing steady improvements since purchased by Ron Bernhagen during the 2011 season. The show will mark the first time 410 Outlaw Sprints have competed at the facility which has seen a fair number of races held for both wined and non-winged 360 sprints. It is believed a lap of the raceway will be turned in less than 11 seconds when the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints appear and a lap of that time should establish a new all-time track record this Friday evening. In addition to the IRA Outlaw Sprints the track will be presenting WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Future IV's and UMSS Traditional sprint cars (wingless). Admission is just $20 for adults with seniors receiving a $2 discount. Students ages 6 through 15 are admitted for $5 and children 5 and under are admitted free. The grandstands will open at 5:00pm, hot laps will take place at 6:40 p.m. with racing scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The raceway can be found by taking Highway 8 towards Saint Croix Falls and then head onto Highway 35 towards Centuria. Take a Left on 160th Avenue and follow signs to the track. The track website can be found at www.scvraceway.com After the St. Croix Valley Speedway event, the series will pack up and head north for a program the following night at ABC Raceway in Ashland, WI. On Saturday evening July 28th the Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Outlaw Winged Sprint Car Series will make their second-ever visit to the ABC Raceway this Saturday night, bringing some of the fastest race cars ever to run on the three-eighths-mile red-clay oval into action. The show will be presented by Wagner’s Shell and Arby’s, and will include the annual FastLane Motorsports Super Stock Challenge as well as the Raceway’s six-cylinder class. Last year, four-time and defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series champion Bill Balog outran Scott Biertzer and Scotty Neitzel to put his name in the ABC Raceway record books as the first winner in 410 sprints at the track. Mike Reinke established the track record with the appearance of the series last season turning in a lap of 12.540 seconds. Hot laps will start at 6:15 pm, followed by time trials for the sprints, while racing will follow at 7. “Race Night” will air on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com from 4:30-6 pm with live at-the-track news and weather updates. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990. In IRA Series action Balog heads into the weekend atop the point standings based on the strength of his nine victories so far in 2012. Balog's season has been feast or famine however and the consistency of his nearest rival Reinke has kept the standings close heading into the final third of the 30 race season schedule. Balog currently has amassed 2236 points to Reinke's 2186. Neitzel sits third in the current standings and who narrowly missed a win at the Dodge County Fairgrounds this past weekend where he finished second to former World of Outlaws regular Justin Henderson, Neitzel has racked up 1974 points. Phillip Mock having an outstanding season has climbed to fourth in the series standings, with Russel Borland rounding out the top five in the current standings.
