ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Sets 2010 Slate
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 31, 2010) – The longest-running American Sprint Car Series Regional tour is set for another year of action, as the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region has announced its 2010 schedule.

Going strong since a trial mini-season in 2000, the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region's tenth full season of competition is currently slated for a dozen nights of action at four tracks throughout New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas, with another three dates yet to be determined.

The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region will open the 2010 campaign by breaking new ground with a first-ever appearance at the Colorado Motorsports Park in Byers, CO, on May 22, the first of two series stops atop the semi-banked, 1/3-mile dirt oval.

The series tackles New Mexico's Aztec Speedway for three weekend doubles, including two versus the ASCS Southwest Region and one with the ASCS Canyon Region on July 2-3, which will mark the first wingless events in ASCS Rocky Mountain Region history.

The series returns to Rock Springs, Wyoming's Sweetwater Speedway on a pair of occasions in 2010 while also taking on the Lucas Oil National Sprint Car Series in Jetmore, KS, on May 29-30.

Rapid City, South Dakota's Jake Ossenfort became the youngest champion in ASCS history in 2009.  The 17-year-old took the ASCS Rocky Mountain crown by 286 markers over Jeremy McCune, who claimed runner-up honors for the second year in a row.

In its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the American Sprint Car Series brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada.  Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
