DEERY BROTHERS SUMMER
SERIES ON TAP TUESDAY AT CRESCO
CRESCO, Iowa (Aug.
24) - The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends a lengthy absence from the
Mighty Howard County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, Aug. 25, as Subway hosts the IMCA
Late Model tour for their first event at the Cresco Speedway since
1996.
The event was originally slated
for June 11 but was rained-out.
Three previous Deery Series
events have been held at Cresco. Jay Johnson of West Burlington won the first,
in 1988, while Gary Webb of Blue Grass topped 1995 and 1996 races.
Five-time series champion and
current points leader Jeff Aikey of Waterloo has won four of the last six Deery
Brothers Summer Series events. Jason Frankel of Quincy, Ill., is 31 points back
and Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., is another seven markers off the
pace.
The feature pays $2,000 to win
and a minimum of $250 to start.
Other drivers expected for this
event include defending series champion Boone McLaughlin, Tom Darbyshire, Terry
Neal, Rob Toland, Bryan Klein, Justin Kay, Matt Strassheim, Mark Burgtorf, T.J.
Criss, Darrel DeFrance, Charlie McKenna, Tommy Elston, Joe Zrostlik, Terry
Schlipman, Robby Warner, Greg Kastli and more.
Also on the racing card will be
USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods and
USRA Hobby Stocks racing for track and national points in the American Racer
USRA Weekly Racing Series in the final event of 2009 at the Cresco
Speedway.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the
grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Cresco. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing
starts at 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $15 for
adults, $5 for kids 6-12 and five and under get in free. Pit passes are
$25.
The Cresco Speedway is a
4/10-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.2 miles north of SR 9 on SW 7th (at
