Ante Upped for Sunday's Regional Showdown at MMS

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 29, 2007) – The stakes have been raised for Sunday night's American Sprint Car Series Coastal vs. Rebel Region showdown at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, as the winner will now pocket a winner's share of $2,000 with all feature starters collecting at least $300.

Louisiana's Michael Dupuy and Florida's T.J. Winegardner lead their respective series into the Sunday night showdown.

With a dozen events in the books, Dupuy of Amite, LA, holds a 78-point lead over Michael Herrington of Gonzales, LA, in the inaugural ASCS Coastal Region championship points race, while Winegardner holds a slim 14-point lead over Brian Thomas of Pendergrass, GA, in the ASCS Rebel Region title chase.

 Sunday night's ASCS Coastal vs. Rebel Region card at Magnolia Motor Speedway goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Magnolia Motor Speedway is located five miles west of Columbus, MS, on US 82, then 0.4 miles south on US 45, then east on SR 182.  For more information, contact the track at 662-328-0376.

The ASCS Coastal Region 2007 slate consists of 17 events at ten different tracks throughout Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

The ASCS Rebel Region sanctions Sprint Car racing throughout Georgia, Alabama and North Florida, with 16 events at eleven different tracks currently on the slate.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series.  With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
