Gater/ Red Bear Hard Charger WIDE Open Heading Down Stretch of ASCS Patriot Season
Press Release Submitted by BigDog on 08/29/2007 at 4:15 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release
Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla., (August 29, 2007)- A few weeks ago, Chuck Hebing all but had the Gater Racing News Hard Charger of the Season Award presented by Red Bear Hand Cleaner locked up.  With just two races left, "Cobra" has a host of names in his rear view mirror.

Chuck Hebing leads the Gater Racing News Hard Charger Standings presented by Red Bear Hand Cleaner by a mere point over Ray Preston, who is only a single passed car ahead of Chris Muhleisen. Those three have averaged two positions advanced per full-point feature and have spaced themselves out from the rest of the pack.

After the final two full-point races of the 2007 season, the top-three in the 3rd Annual Hard Charger standings will be locked into their share of the point fund put forth by Red Bear Hand Cleaner earlier this season.  Red Bear will also give out their product to those that finish inside the top-10 of these separate standings.

All three drivers failed to advance a position in the most recent A-Main Sunday at Humberstone, but for Hebing and Muhleisen, first and third place finishes, respectively, helped them out in the overall standings.  Unfortunately for Preston, his first flip in an ASCS Patriot event since 2005 resulted in a 23rd place finish for the Romulus, NY Veteran.

After the top three is a heavy fleet of drivers that with one bad heat combined with a good feature could find themselves in the top-three.  Six drivers are within two points from fourth to ninth, with another 15 drivers with 10 total positions advanced.

Hard Charger points have been distributed at every ASCS Patriot full point race in 2007, with drivers receiving one point for every position they moved up through the course of an A-Main.  No negative points are given at any point.

Eighty drivers have competed with the ASCS Patriots this year, with 58 of them moving up at least one spot in one of the 17 A-Mains already in the books in 2007.

Jared Zimbardi won the inaugural running of the Gater Hard Charger Standings in 2005, with Don Adamczyk scoring the crown last year.  This is the first year Red Bear Hand Cleaner is involved.
