Press Release Submitted by BigDog on 08/28/2007 at 9:46 AM Send To Friend | Report Press Release
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla.  (August 27, 2007) – After a soggy weekend across the border in Canada, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz are set to return to action this weekend with a pair of events in Michigan.

On Friday night, the series makes its lone stop of the year at Winston Speedway in Rothbury before moving on to Crystal Motor Speedway for the third and final time this season on Saturday night.

With this past weekend's pair of rainouts, the ASCS Sprints on Dirt championship remains the same; extremely close but with two less shows to get the job done.

With just one points-paying event remaining after this weekend's action, Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN, clings to an eight-point lead over Goshen, Indiana's Brett Mann.  Ben Rutan of Jerome, MI, still remains within striking distance, just 38 points out of the lead in third.

Gary Fast of Kalkaska, MI, enters the weekend ranked fourth, just 14 points ahead of Linden, Michigan's Bill Johnson, who rounds out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Sprints on Dirt points includes rookie contender Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), this past weekend's feature winner Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI), 17-year-old rookie shoe Jake Stebner (Elmira, MI) and Kirk Cheney (Hastings, MI).

Dain Naida and Gary Fast split victory honors at Winston Speedway last year.

Victorious in seven of the 14 ASCS Sprints on Dirt feature events completed this year, Portland, Michigan's Dustin Daggett has topped both previous cards at Crystal Motor Speedway, including the season opener on May 5 and then the second stop on July 21.

Friday's card at Winston Speedway goes green at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's action at Crystal Motor Speedway getting under way at 7:30 p.m. as well.

Winston Speedway is located in Rothbury, MI, on US 31 to the Winston Road exit, hten 0.2 miles west.  For more information, contact the track at 231-719-0326.
