Ok, So I wanna go to the Nationals but I don't have tickets, a room or a camping spot. I know the rooms are booked. I'm not really a camping type of person but am willing to do it to go. Does anyone know of any tickets and camping that may be available?

If you don't mind driving just under an hour, there should still be rooms available. I would think that Des Moines, IA would have some rooms available. Also try Altoona, Grinnell, and Colfax (should have a new one done by then). They are all within an hour and easy to get to. Usually all rooms in Knoxville and Newton are full. A lot of people camp at Lake Red Rock which is like 15 minutes away. I think you can reserve a place online. Do a google search. There will also likely be some places available in someone's front yard too.

If you're not really the camping type and don't have air in your trailor (or a trailer) you might want to go the room route. Usually the Nats are super hot and humid during the day, and chilly at night.

Come on out!

There is still plenty of good tickets available at the track office, all you have to do is call during business hours and check out what is available on where you may be interested in sitting. If you go to the knoxville web sight you can go to the buy tickets page and see whats available. It's only May and this event is not sold out by any means, hotels may be hard to get by this time of year but if you can get on a waiting list from people who may cancle that might be an option. Its early yet so if you do some calling around now you may find something. If you want to camp there are many people in town who are willing to rent out a spot in there back yard at a pretty resonable price.

Camping in Knoxville for the Nationals is a must! Even for the non-camper, it is a great way to experience the WHOLE event. The North campgrounds is a god way to go, I stayed there on my first visit. They have good showers and it is only about a mile from the track. The main thing I would suggest is that you take a bicycle. It is a great way to get around and go back and forth to the track, plus, there in no free parking at the track. Days can be spent riding up to the track and surrounding business parking lots and watching the teams do their maintenance to the cars too which helps pass the time.

Rick & Joy do a great job with both the north and south camping, so call them. If you camp in the south, which we normally do, there are showers nearby at the Armory along with daily all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

Perhaps the coolest thing about the nationals is meeting and hanging out with so many sprint car racing fans from every place you can think of. It don't get much better than this.

Unfortunately, we cannot be there this year. But we are vowing that this will be the last one that we will ever miss!

Rooms are available starting 30-45 minutes from track, but reserve soonest, as it is also Iowa state fair at that time. Tickets are always available at the gates (scalpers), if you don`t pre-buy.

Knoxville (north campgrounds)usually go on sale on the first Monday in June around 9 or 10 am. You can rent campers for the week or maybe borrow a friends. Campin is the best wat to go by far though.

Is Rick and Joy's campground within walking distance to the track? Do they have a web-site? Wherever we stay must be within walking distance of the track. There are no DD's in my group.

Hawker, The campground you are talking about sounds perfect. Is that Rick and Joy's? If not, do you have a number for that campground?

Thanks!

just on the closer side of the fence to Knoxville Raceways campgrounds.

Many times they have a shuttle also, but it is only about 3 long blocks to the track.

They used to do some hosehead reunion thing at the Nats didn't they? They always named a Hoser of the year? Do they still do that? Do you people get together and party somewhere?

The Hoseheads reusion has sort of played out now that my business has grown to the point of not having the time to get it going.

May I suggest you add a little beer, vodka and sprite to your lemonade. Nothin better on a hot day than a batch of strip and go nakeds. Why not throw the puzzles away and try the game twister this year? As for the oatmeal.....I hate it.

Hey racinwidow.

You got a camper, motorhome, tent or what are you planning, and how many? Kids coming along also?

We're 5 blocks east of the track, in a private yard. I'm sure theres room there still for one more unit?

3 Jackson groups, and one from the cities.

You know how to get ahold of me hehehe

Rpmx,

No kids for this trip. Just the 2 of us so far. That would be sweet to camp next you guys though! I would tent it but I would really want to bring my bed with and that probably wouldn't work. Also, Could we get power from somewhere? A shower? Maybe we could just rent a self contained camper in that area. Do you know of any places I could check? Email me with the groups of people you are going with and other details. I lost your number....as you probably have noticed. No 2am phone calls or texts latley. he he So email me your number too. Promise I won't drink n dial ya! Hope to hear from ya soon! Won't be in Jackson tonight.....It's too dang cold...........
