Anyone read the article ? Possibility of the WoO dropping the early spring trip to CA. I think it's a good idea. Saying 4 dates thru pa, port 2 day show, grove and Lincoln 1 each. West coast weather had teams sitting in hotels almost every night. I guess wrg has crossed off going south for speedweeks.

There's a pretty good chance they'll be staying in motels in Central Pa in March too.

Yea wolfie, as I mentioned, I don't understand why they don't want to run south. I realize there is not a lot of sprint car support but I'm talking about tracks in ga, and the carolina's. I think you could see some pa and Midwest cars go down for that. Maybe the outlaws just need to start later. The only thing pa gives them is less travel that early in the year.

That is true but for most teams they won't have to travel as far to do it. The Pa tracks also will not cancell five days in advance based on a poor weather forecast as some tracks do. Their advantage there is a more local fan base that doesn't have travel as far as some for races.

The central Pa fans seem to be much more tolorant to the cold wet weather than those in California or other southern parts of the country.

Brad mentioned that the HL series isn't in Cali next season, which I'm guessing is b/c of what the WOO schedule will look like. If there were more tracks west of the Dakotas and east of CA, then things would be different. What's in the south west that would run sprints?

Whatever. This is a message board for sprint car racing. You seem to have confused it for one about politics.

Murphy, I see a day when the outlaws drop the west coast all together. There is just to much travel involved, property is to valuable, drag strips, nascrap, dirt have all lost tracks in CA due to land values. The outlaws used to have stops in Texas and Arizona to help with expenses. As for the fruitcakes, 100%.

Len had the scoop. Port on 3/10-11 (he missed by a day, he had 11and12) then the next week at Williams Grove and Lincoln. Port must be night shows - at least on Friday. Might be 60, probably be in the 30's - bring hunting clothes/snowmobile suit and a shovel :)
No conflict with Grove opening day. That's where I'll be - with the regulars - celebrating 40 years since that Sunday afternoon in March 1983 when I came through the Beer Hill gate and got instantaneously hooked.

The problem is that the only state that California is on the way to is Hawaii.

I agree that the WoO west coast swing might go away. Maybe this is the first step towards that happening? On the bright side, maybe without WoO influence the west coast can develop some rules that allow good racing without pricing every race team out of the sport.
