Well I turned it off after the heats and the drivers gathering.  I'd assume the delays is what the apologies were for. I hope the feature was better because they had a nice crowd.

Parker Price-Miller seemed to be saying the track prep was not good, at least thats what I got from the interview.

I tuned in on Flo, could hardly see for the dust. Almost felt like putting goggles on.

I clicked in to Flo at the beginning of TTs and just turned it off. I think that place has a reputation for being a dusty track. I tuned in later as the decision to race was being made and watched the feature and it was okay, way better surface than earlier.

Fans get ripped off because of a junk racing surface.  25 lap feature on a 1/4 mile when Attica ran 35  laps opening night of Speedweek on a 1/3 mile.

Was wondering that myself. I tuned in just before the feature and thought it looked OK. Sure it was dry and slick but not very dusty and the cars were running everywhere from the top to the bottom. I do like bullrings to have more grip than a 1/2 mile but it certainly didn't look like anything to complain about, or cancel a feature.

Lima used to be a wicked high banked track with a decent surface in the 80's/ early 90's, but a sh-t hole facilty. Now it's nice facility with a semi-banked sh-t hole surface. It's owned by a 'motorsports' university full of young gearheads, but virtually has no social media presence. And they seem to not really want to race there very much.

Every single thing about the place is unintentionally ironic.

Made my first visit to Limaland.  This is a super nice facility as I arrived. Lots of staff and place was well maintained.

Made my way to grandstands and sat almost at the top. Looked at the track and my first thought was no passing tonight. The track surface was baked hard and looked like they might have put one load of water on it all day.  Later someone in the stands said they had only put some water on it around noon. The track prep was non existent.

Hot laps made so much dust that you knew it would be bad.  They ran the water truck around before heats and ran it in to dust again. Then the water truck ran around the infield outer edge watering and made it look like part of track. Some 10" tall infield tires that you could not see and you expected would launch a car if hit just right.  The track had no traction and during heats a few cut and were using the infield as the track. Dust was so bad you couldn't see much towards T2.  Then B Main came and was an embarrassment as the cars disappeared from view and they were running between the light poles and infield tires. It is hard to describe how bad this was. Some cars just pulled off and left.

Then drivers got all star officials out and big talk. Drivers were not going to run feature due to safety.  Then they get a can of red spray paint and spray the ground infield tires. A wrecker brings out a Jersey barrier and they set it between the tire and light pole and spray some red on it.  Then they bring another out. Track is being watered and run in.  Drivers, owners, staff and All Stars gathered at barrier having meeting. It was well over an hour.  Then Blake announces the 24 cars will come out and hot lap and decide if they will race the feature.

The crowd which was huge starts booing and yelling and getting pissed as they might not get to see the feature and what do you do if you can't see the race you paid for.

Finally the drivers said they would do feature.

Danny Dietrich(sp?) did have the set up figured out and he was the best pick to drive this. PPM had also got a handle on it during the heats.

If this track had someone who could do track prep, would be a great place.

None of this was on  the All Star staff, who did what they could.

Thank you for the update. I was watching the USAC and 410 race from Williams Grove and flipped on just as Blake was talking about the thumbs up or thumbs down from the drivers before the feature. I did not know what he was talking about (but know I know) The feature was just OK, but not much passing. Limaland has been a track on my bucket list.....but maybe not anymore????

Was it the Limaland Ascoc show where, in the feature a car suddenly stopped on the back stretch and was piled into by two others?

Appeared, from the highlights the car broke a front axle and it dug into the track. Is that what happened or what did really happen?

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I made that note when they moved the Doty Classic from Limaland.  From his comments....DD sure didn't like it....even though he won.

Very apt report of the night.

The track was baked hard.  That's why the little water they dumped on it ran to the infield and sat between the tires and light poles.  So guess where the drivers saw the moisture and drove thier cars.  The were legit racing in the infield.  Hence the barriers brought out to make them stay on the track.  I used to really look forward to racing there.  I really enjoyed the BDC I saw there.  Knowing they get in one 410 race about every ten years, I was most excited about that speedweek race.  And the school completely laid an egg.  Let's hope they get more opportunities and take them seriously and have a racing surface that matches the rest of the facility next time.

Just my observation from having a kid who's big into monster trucks....UNOH seems way more interested in the motorsports entertainment industry right now that in actual racing.
