I can't wait to hear a specific review about tonight's WoO track surface at Bridgeport. When the three time WoO champion blasts it on a World broadcast, you know it's bad. We know it will never be the worst surface ever, we know who that champion is, but we'll see what the master thinks. Personally, I'm fine with any and all surfaces. It is what it is. I go to a lot of races and never complain about it. And I certainly don't take my ball and go home and say I'm not going to a specific track until they get it right four weeks in a row. Idiot.

I see you called yourself an idiot!!!  With the surface tonight it reminds me of the juniata county oval!!

Too many good tracks to go to instead of the Port who has the worst surface week in and week out

Blah, blah, blah, same crap different day. Blah, blah, blah. Same person different day. Blah, blah, blah, why someone needs to stir his pot. Blah, blah, blah. By the way, bridgeport usually has a really racey surface. Maybe that's what the outlaws officials try to tell the folks doing track prep what they want. Brad Sweet mite have made those comments directed at the woo.

I don't care what anyone says, THAT was a good race, not a dragstrip, but a very good race.

They also reworked the track and brought it back life.

I watched the feature hilites on YouTube and it was an exciting race.  I understand they reworked the track and the result was an exciting four car battle for the lead.  It's an outdoor sport that is affected by sun, wind, humidity and sometimes they don't get it right until the end of the night.  Better late than never.

Fans and drivers were going crazy criticizing the track, but the heats were good too. I know people were worried that a track that slick in the heats would rubber down in the feature, but they did a great job recovering it.

On a completely different note, I'm not sure how many seats Bridgeport has, but it's well over 5k and 90% were filled last night. I paid $45 for a pit pass and there were hundreds like me. I assume the general admission was $40. The concessions had lines all night. That track could have easily paid $20k to win without worry. It's sad that we're in 2022 and the Outlaws who can fill tracks from coast to coast with fans, plus have healthy streaming numbers are still for the most part running for purses they did 20 years ago. I know the big races have grown considerably, but it's time to raise the minimum purse to $15k to win.

Race was awesome.  All the gloom and doom from social media was that everyone would be blowing tires and a freight train, boy were they wrong... they should leave the track prep to the experts.

Last couple of years they raised the start money from $850 I believe it was from 16th to 24 up to $1,000 which was a very good move I think and that 1,350$ was better spent on the back half then giving the winner $11,350.

Jumping to $15,000 to win will not increase car counts, fan counts or profit for the track so I don't see it happening any time soon.

If raising the to win money had an effect there would be 250 cars at the King's Royal and Knoxville Nationals, but with more than doubling the winners share, the car counts stayed the same.

I'd love to see these guys get bigger money for sure, but not sure where it would come from, other than Live T.V. and that's already proven to be a HARD sell for sprint cars of all kinds.

I like the idea but...

It's bad enough we have enough of Winged Strawser's unsolicted opinions on here, but you had to specifically go baiting him into a comment? It's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times and expecting nothing to happen.

I was glad I was able to see the race in person...I was like everyone else muttering to myself that the track was the worst I had seen it since they reconfigured it during time trials and the heat races....hats off to the track prep guys from bringing it back from the dead. Just an overall enjoyable night of racing. Bridgeport was the very first dirt track I attended as a teenager. It does my heart good to see the place packed with fans again. It looks like the 50th annivsary season is off to a good start based on last night's racing.

I thought the track would be trash come Feature time but I WAS WRONG. I also didn't think the water would do much, but I WAS WRONG. Kudos to the local track crew for fixing it.

The racing was awesome. Cool to see Sheldon drive around Larson on the high side. During the yellow I thought it was over b/c Larson looked to be running the bottom well, and driving off of turn 2 better.

As for raising the purse to $15k for every race, I think that's unrealistic. There are other expenses that increase and other factors that most of us are unaware of. I think the WOO has also made a smart move by increasing start money. While everyone wants to see huge purses most don't pay throughout the entire field. The start money affects everyone and I think is a good starting point for increasing the car counts.

briggs danner made his first career woo feature in his first career woo race.  quite an accomplishment.  he gained a few spots in the feature too and finished 16th.  i'm excited to see what he can do with the usac eastern storm next month.  i also wonder if they'll enter some more of the bigger 410 races this summer.  they ran a 360 at port already so he has some wing experience there.  i'd love to see him run the weikert memorial, some of the speekweek shows, and the outlaw swing over the summer.

Bridgeport has built the perfect race track for sprints or just about any type of dirt racing. Racing wise there is none better. Wide, fast and racey; what more could anyone ask for? It's light years better than the old 5/8 track and they NAILED IT with that reconfiguration.

First, I'm not an expert on track prep and am not here to complain.   I appreciate everything that tracks do and all their efforts towards putting on a good show.  That bring said, I'm sure 10 to 20% of those in attendance won't be back for a number of reasons.   One, why do tracks insist on having support divisions through the week?  Completely unnecessary in my opinion for big shows and extends what is already a long night.  Two, why is there one way out of the track?  Not to be rude, but it seems like it wouldn't be very difficult to make a desperately needed 2nd exit.  Third, wasn't this advertised as a 35 lap show,?  Why was it changed and not explained?  Last, I was there in April abd the track was much much better.  To me,  it seemed like track preparers could have and should have put down much more moisture early in the evening on the various attempts to improve the surface.   Was the track greatly improved for the feature?  Yes.  Was it a dust bowl for all preceding races yes.   After being very impressed with the April race, I probably won't return for all the reasons mentioned.  Great track with tons of potential,  with what seems to be poor execution on large shows held during midweek.  I can't get home at 3 in the morning and go to work anymore.

Configuration yes.  Track surface and preparation is certainly still open to debate.   I'm sure Sweet was only saying what all the other drivers were thinking.  Track was a complete dust bowl last night on what was an average late spring day in terms of temp.  In my opinion,  track had way to little moisture when racing started.  I confess I'm no expert, just another guy with an opinion.  But for tracks wishing to grow and build a brand, you have to nail big shows like that, and they missed the mark in my opinion.  The feature was very good, to be fair, but still not as good as the April 410 show in my opinion

I wish every WOO race was that good..I do not see a problem at all, a pro racer should be able to adjust to track conditions.  You had 2 drivers fighting it out and Donny and Logan waiting for them to screw up.  I would rate this race 9 out of 10.

If we are being nit picky, I was surprised General Admission was $38. I was reading my Area Auto Racing News in the parking lot prior to the races and there was a full page ad on the back cover stating General Admission was to be $35. Not that $3 will break me, but I was surprised when the lady at the ticket window said $38. Other than that....I will be back for more races this season. Love the track and atmosphere.
