Last year for 410 H tires I paid $220 for a RR and now hearing they will be $258 per tire in 2022 and that is before tax. Fronts going from $185 to $210 before tax. So each night you strap on a new set of tires it will be a $100 more in 2022 than last year. I know things are going up but this is a crazy price increase that will hit the bottom line, especially for the local racers. Guess everyone was happy to sign up for the monopoly of Hoosier and nothing we can do but suck it up. Should have stocked up at the end of last year but there was no inventory to be had.

I have always wonered how a tire you can get 25 miles of wear out of can cost twice the price of a hiway tire that can get 70,000 miles.  The hiway tire is constructed under strict safety specs.  The racing tire will only guarantee it will hold air when you first blow it up.  I heard Australia who taxes the hell out of every import Hoosier tires cost $500.00.  If you ever wonder what happened to weekend racers. this will be part of it.  Yes, I have been buying these tires for 30 years.  I would also be willing to bet the tires now have more nylon and less rubber in them.

Have you seriously wondered why a road tire costs half as much as a racing tire?  I assume it was a joke?

please explain why.  I would guess they make so few race tires in comparison.  I joke all the time but not in this case.

Seems like a legitimate Question to me?

I'll take a crack at that question.

1. Cause people are willing to pay more for wants than needs.

2. Cause people have options in street tires but not with racing tires.

3. They paid $X.00 last year so it only stands to reason they will pay $X.99 this year.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Except that WoO controls whose tires get used in WoO races. Therein lies the problem.

All tires have went up about that much,Our main business is agriculture and we have seen several price increases some as much as 5X what we paid for same thing last year.Example RoundUp was as low as $7 a gallon is now $50+ Firestone tractor tires have increased 30%.

I thought it was a joke and I don't have the exact reasons, these are only guesses of mine.  But if you look at a right rear sprint car tire compared to a car tire I would guess there's 2-3x the amount of rubber on a sprint car tire.  Also back about 20 years ago or so (the last time I looked) a speed rated tire was much more expensive than a regular tire of the same size.  Also if you look at the abuse these things take, bouncing around, high speeds and the stress put on them from twisting due to them gripping the track and 900 hp spinning the wheel all well having 6 psi of air, I'd guess they're built a lot stronger than a road tire.  So my best guesses would be they're more expensive because there's more rubber, they can withstand higher speeds (I'm guessing that means stronger belts in the tire?) and they're built better.  Also it's a pretty limited market, maybe a late model runs those tires?  But I'm guessing a late model tire is a little different?  Personally I've always thought Sprint car tires were priced pretty cheap for what you're getting (and still do), I think in the 90s I heard that a set of tires on a NASCAR race car were about $1,600.  It's not about the miles they'll go, it's about how they're built.  4 new tires for my Subaru are $500.

If you go back in your history books when Woo put the tire contract up for bid many years ago they selected American Racer tires do to lower cost but PA and Knoxville would not change from Hoosier so Woo caved to give the contract to Hoosier.

I would like to see it go out for bid again but I think the tracks and sanctioning bodies are enjoying the Hoosier $$$ too much now.

Maybe a stupid question but why just have 1 maufacturer? Why not American Racer, Hoosier and Good Year (if they can put something good together) to give the Racers options and the tire manufacturers bragging rights. Possibly the pcices might drop or at least stabilize as well!!

To stay on top of the game you would have to carry a big inventory of every brand and compound. The tire rule is a good thing. I just think it should be put out for bid every 3 years or so to keep the cost down.

Working for a parts place.  We are hoping for that too.  We received a price increase from some of our vendors 3 or 4 times last year.  Some of the increases were very large.  Don't count on the price drop... very rare is there a price decrease in parts.

I would bet any of the tire manufacturer you have listed here has a price from 2021 to 2022.

Everything we are buying has a price increase in the last year.

Damn, you guys are funny. I'm sure everyone that is complaining are still driving around looking for the elusive 5 cent cheeseburger and 0.89 gallon of gas. Keep shopping for that new $3,500 car. Welcome to capitalism and supply & demand.

Do any of you whiny lil Trump bitches now how shit works in this world? Obviuosly not, I hear he loves the un educated.  I don't think you are whining about the 80k house you bought 20 years ago has doubled in price. It's sad you even call yourself race fans. Hopefull dumb people stop breeding and contributing to the de-evolution of society. Now you idiots can go back to staring at your $1,300 phone all day.

Well you did at one time get a burger fries and a drink at McDonalds and change back from your dollar. I do suspect some of the really uneducated 33% will start to whine soon. I work in two prominent industries and I can tell you that you ain't seen nothin yet.

I guess you are ok with everything we are buying cost a lot more than it did a year ago?  Not the normal jump.....it is a huge jump to 15 to 35% more on most of our parts. I know you can't believe a bean counter since I see just about every invoice and how much it has went up over the last year.....think what you want.  You will anyway.  Even though you are wrong!

Not only that if you are buying it off the store shelf.  You are paying a much higher price than a year ago.  Sorry to disappoint you!
