BRODY FUSON BREAKS THROUGH AT PETALUMA

PETALUMA, CA – JULY 31, 2021… After taking the lead from Colton Raudman on the fifth lap, young Brody Fuson (Bakersfield, CA) led the rest of the way to score his first $1,200 USAC Western States Midget feature at Petaluma Speedway. Driving Rusty Carlile’s #51 RacePa Motorsports / W.E. Spike, Fuson became the 185th winning driver in series history. Raudman, hard charger C.J. Sarna, Kyle Mentch, and fast qualifier Blake Bower chased the rookie contender to the checkered flags.

Fuson began his night at Petaluma by qualifying third overall and finished second to Blake Bower in his heat race. Brody heads to Merced’s “Kevin Triplett Memorial” ranked third in the standings, just 46 points behind leader Austin Liggett.

C.J. Sarna (Brea, CA) scored his third Rod End Supply Hard Charger Award of the year with a third place run from fifth. Racing his #20 ZMAX / Final Final Lifestyle Spike, the 2007co-rookie of the year was fifth quick in time trials, placed fifth in his heat race, and left the Sonoma-Maria Fairgrounds ranked fourth in the point standings.

Blake Bower (Brentwood, CA) earned his first career Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award. Driving Tony Boscacci’s #9 Orland Public Auto Auction / Sold Buy Guys entry, Bower registered a time of 15.119 on the 3/8-mile speedway over the 6-car field. Blake also won the night’s 10-lap Extreme Mufflers First Heat Race, ran fifth in the main event, and heads to Merced second in points as the leading rookie.

On Saturday, August 7th, the USAC Western States Midgets will clash with the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) at Merced Speedway (Merced, CA) for the “Kevin Triplett Memorial.” The USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Cars will also share the spotlight.
