Turkey Night Open Wheel Classic to end the 2007 Season
http://www.springfieldraceway.com
Springfield Raceway will once again be at the forefront of event promotion with the 1st Annual Turkey Night Open Wheel Classic on Saturday November 24th. This historic event will feature the regions premier open wheel stars in 360 Wing Sprint Cars paying $2,500 to win. Also on the card for the evening will be Modifieds paying $750 to win and Midgets paying $500 to the winner.
"We have looked at the weather over the last 7 years and it has been very mild, Jerry and I figured that if football fans can sit in the stands at Chiefs Stadium in the middle of December, then they can sit for a couple hours watching Sprint Cars race side-by-side on the high banks of Springfield Raceway", said Raceway co-owner Doug Bland. Bland also stated, "we are going to start racing at 4pm and hope to have the checkered flag fly by 8pm in order to get everyone home before the temperatures drop".
Several of the regions top sprint car drivers have contacted the Raceway informing them that they will be in Springfield on November 24th to try and take home their share of the prize money. Former World of Outlaw Champion and IROC Race winner Danny the Dude Lasoski plans on attending the event along with his nephew and Knoxville Raceway track Champion Brian Brown. Pit gates will open at noon on the 24th with the hot laps starting at 3pm and racing starting at 4pm. Grandstand admission will be $15 and pit passes will be $30.
