Hey;
That orange car 20 in the back ground looks pretty cool!
Do you have a picture of that?
And did Bod build it too?

That's cool doublenuthin. When I raced down at k'ville it was always good to see your #00 whether you were in the seat or someone else was piloting, and the fact that Bob Trostle was always around as well. I know you have used Bob's cars for a long time. What are you up to nowadays? I don't race down there anymore so I'm a little clueless. Sure miss racing there, but I don't miss the trip there and back.

Just been helping the Aussie I sold my car to when he comes over in the summer. Trying to pick away at restoring Trostle 181, the first car Wolfie drove for Bob back in 76 and early 77.

no Bob did not build this car but he did fabricate many parts for it such as mounts ,bumpers, bird cages and more.

I have a old Hilborn injector , im guessing earlie sixteys? pain in the a$$ to clean knozzels would be good for a retro deal, not a weekly routine,a NRO, old school front cover, and a earlie 327(62 ish) small journal engine , that needs work, and some not so correct AFR standard port heads, I was going to build into a retro sprint mill for a t bucket project to give to my dad, Ive been looking at the old style (black)M/T valve covers , they would really make it complete, just havent started it yet, I might be interested in 410 stuff ? The NRO cover utilizes a square drive for the water pump, and no crank window, how did you old fellas time these things back then? back of the motor somehow? im also looking for the square pump drive. this thing would be a pretty unique hotrod engine ,
as for the hood, I was just studying the photo, considering I was born in 1975, I still get a kick out of that old stuff ,wow, how far we have come, a couple years ago someone on here ,gave me some flack about playing down some old school cars/drivers trying to clean house today , and I was just trying to be honest, maybe, they should have got to know me better , (still bothers me ) considering my second car I bought in 1992 was a 69 chevelle SS I still happily own it today , Oe , and the first was a 69 cutlass , but, to be honest, I really wanted a 442! , remember when a seat belt was moms arm across your chest ,"now, sitdown" LOL ,yep thats me , I was shittn diapers when dad stood on the gas! " and, I liked it!"

I'll second that.
This is great stuff!
Where are the Weikert cars? I see one restored/on display in New England somewhere. Van May was rumored to have one, but that was a long time ago.

I bought a frame from Bob, it was either #495 or #496. Picked it up the first week of December, 1994. Ran it in 1995. It was non-downtube four-bar. Larry, do you remember anything about your #495? It may have been my old car.
Later,
Bob Mays

We had one in the late 70's. Ex Wilbur Heckie car. Was restored by someone in Kansas and was in the HOF in 2003, 04. Had a chrome and painted cage.

Supermod: I had Bob build 495 for me, my first new chassis. I wanted 500 but I think Butch Hansen got it. I was just tickled to get a new car. It got destroyed when Terry McCarl put a slide job on me at the 96 or 97 Limited Nationals in a heat race. I couldn't figure out what he was doing that close to me. That was the first one anyone had put on me and I just stayed on the gas. The hit knocked me into the fence, and bent everything.

Bob says he is retired. He is working on a 1950 olds as a driver . Still sharp as a tack and its very hard to keep up with him.

This is an '86 Trostle that resides in N. Nevada (Carson City) and the owner was a good friend of Bob's. Not sure of the S/N, but i can probably find out.

I now own this car. It is tore down right now. I am totally going through it. When I got her she was in pretty rough shape. I hope to have her looking better than she did here come march. I am going to need some help setup wise though. Does anyone have any setup advice??? It will be run on dirt with semi slick conditions. non winged
