a year later and what did the woo/nst split accopmplish anyway besides showing tk could kick steve kinsers butt given the same equipment. That schatz could kick what was left of the outlaws butts. That becca anderson can qualify decent if you give her enough chances. That no traveling sprint series can live along side the woo (at least not yet). What else? That sprint car fans will find something to bitch and complain about no matter what anyone does to try to make it better.so lets all click our ruby handled grooving irons together and repete after me "There's no place like home,There's no place like home,There's no place like home." Here's to a happy thanksgiving and a hell of a new racing year. And may the racing gods bless us ,every one.
p.s. for you racing scrooges may the ghosts of nsl nst and usa past visit you and set you straight.

Nothing good came of the split. It stunted the growth of the sport, divided the car owners and fans and cost promoters money in lost revenue at the gate.

Dirt motorsports had to look at how they were doing thing and make the necessary changes to keep from losing other teams as well as respect of others, but how long will the changes last. As long as dirt listens to the driver and teams they should be ok. But if that stops you could have more problem in the future. I do not think everyone has answer to very problem that may take place but as long as there is talking and listening the future could be interesting for sprint car racing as awhole.

SprintCar & Midget: When USA was formed in '89 and guys like Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Dave Blaney left the World of Outlaws, did you take it personally?
Ted Johnson: Not really. I thought it was a business deal. I didn't have any illusions. People thought they knew something they didn't know. But I knew. And this is the first time I ever said this, but USA set us back about four years. We would've had a seven or eight year run with the Nashville Network, and a good, key sponsor like we had for four years with Pennzoil. It could've been eight years.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

Stick it out ? What a fool ! Their leader passed away, get a clue. That will close many companies, especially a new one. Any person with some business experience or half a brain knows you are incorrect with your statement. 90% of new businesses show a loss their first year. Also any established company takes a couple years to show their negative changes after losing their main attractions. It in fact does take more time to make a true evaluation. I am not anti WoO or pro NST, but If you think the NST didnt make any changes you are dead wrong. It made huge changes and you can guarantee at the DIRT meetings they were the key subject.
|
we seem to agree that this was not enough time for there to be full scale clear cut changes and for differences to come about.also that it takes a while for any new venture to take hold.so why would it not seem to you that the nst people should have been prepared to stick it out.if fred had not been killed they might have been able to make it,if they could have got pepsi as a sponser it might have saved them,if my aunt had balls she would have been my uncle.being prepared to hang in there and make your company work is part of going off on your own.these teams were never in it for the long haul.they all knew if it did not take off that they could go back to woo any time they wanted.and of these HUGE changes that the nst caused woo to make ,what exactly were these HUGE changes.for this comming year i see lower tow money, teams having to share merchandise sales with dirt, also no signing bonus and a monitary penalty of 50% of your year end points money should an owner or driver not attened the banquet.any percieved gains that may have emerged from nst's being around quickly evaporated as soon as they did.ok, so they may have had some effect on the way dirt did things just by starting up and being a fly at the party.but a fly just gets in your way,and as soon as nst whent away the reason for dirt to continue any of those changes whent away too.i am not upset with nst for starting what they did.in fact i am more upset with them not continuing.so sitting here to day what did they accomplish?sadly, not much.for whatever reason not much.

lighten up twenty8 did you not see the LOL on the end of my last reply?you are taking this WAY to personal.just 'cause the nst is now the No Steve Tour and your hero jumped ship and you find yourself with a foot in each boat and no dry land for you to stand on,that's no reason for you to take things to heart. but i did get you up to three sentences in your reply.wonder if your brain is now going to have to work overtime to keep up with your typing finger on your next reply.looking forward to more of your stimulating conversation.if you still feel like beating a dead horse that is.

lot of good replies and opinions on this thread.lots of points of view. i am speaking from the point of view of someone working for a company that is trying to run the woo season out of it's own pocket and seeing what is being taken from us and what we are being asked to agree to.it seems that the nst created a situation by forming and folding within one year that has now emboldened dirt to reach into our pockets further by not reaching into theirs as much as they were.by reducing tow money to lower than it was a year or two ago for a lot of the traveling teams it hurts.and we are not talking about just lowering money for the lower place teams, some of the teams that were up in points will bee effected. and NO team as far as i know will get what they got as far as tow money last year.tow money is important to EVERY team. the top teams are looking at loosing approx $17000.00 to $ 18000.00.while the other teams could be loosing around $35000.00. that is a lot of money.i don't mean to harp but i want the race fan to know what is going on and why.i don't know everything ,but everything i have posted is based on the facts i do know.from my point of view this is what the split accomplished,we are racing for less money.

Hey Secretariat............I have never been a Kinser fan, and I am not pro or anti NST. Just responding to your so called facts that are very one sided, ignorant, closed minded, and lack any actual value. I will quit beating you now before you call the ASPCA. Good luck to you Mr. Ed !

Something that is not well known is that the driver's travel money ($10,500 per night this year) is paid by the promoters and comes from ticket sales. In 2005 it was $7,500. While it's nice to take care of the drivers, the fans have to be considered as well. We all know it's a disease for the race teams, but fans have to want to come.
