It's not 2010 anymore. I think the Speedlab empire brings in enough money now.

2010?  Swindell had his accident in 2015 and started the 39 team............?  2016?  2017?   What does 2010 have to do with it?  I don't recall the ride being around before then.

I must be as well.  Not sure how all of the sudden money is growing on trees for the Swindells.  Interested to hear the reasons from those in the know.

Yeah was just speaking roughly. Definitely thought it has been longer than 2015. But what I'm trying to say, is that I think the pay to ride deal has been over for awhile now. Business has been good.

You don't have to be in the know. They move more merch than anyone by far. Just look around.

I know they move a lot of merch------but I would never say "more than anyone by far."   I don't have numbers, but I would find it hard to believe they sell 10% of what the top Outlaw guys sell.  The trailer looks busy at the Knoxville Nats, and I see a number of Swindell Speedlab shirts walking through the fairgrounds, but I see a lot more Sheldon, Larson, Sweet and Gravel shirts.

If I'm understanding you right, you're saying their finances are good because they are selling a lot of merchandise to support the team, not because they are winning a lot of races?

I'm also curious how many $30 t-shirts I have to sell to put a sprint car on the road.  A lot of these guys sell shirts, but the big stickers on the wing pay to put the rig up and down the road and the car on the track.  Selling shirts is nice, and very profitable, but will not sustain a top-tier sprint car program.  Gotta be other methods of generating cash.

Hope that's rhetorical question

No, that was a serious question. Is that what you mean?

I've heard Swindell and Abreu's merch sales are north of 500k.

I don't doubt it.  I don't want to speculate that you have the right number, but if it is, those are sales, not profits.  Profits from $500,000 of merch sales will definitely help, but won't pay the bills rolling a sprint cart, and merch trailer, up and down the highway.......unless of course you stay on the porch--wherever that porch may be.

Ok, lets say it is 500,000 they make off of merch sales.  Lets use shirts as an example.  I know they have other merchandise.  It is only an example.

Lets say they pay 10.00 a shirt and sell them for 25.00 that is 15.00 on each shirt.

Then take the 500,000 divided by 25.00 - 20,000 shirts sold

20,000 X 15  = 300,000.

For as much as they race that is a good racing budget per year.  They probably only race about 30 shows a year.....just a guess.  That might be high.   They also have a couple of sponsors.  If I did my math right that would give them 10,000 per race, if they raced 30 in a year.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I think Kevin learned from his days trying to break into NASCAR and watching guys with lesser talent buy rides that selling your team's services to those who can provide some cash is a decent way to go.
