Brian was this about 1967-68? If tha is the Cate's deuce on the back of the outside row with Jackie Howerton next to him? The car on the outside row at the front looks like the 112 of Evard Humphrey

This was taken at the first NCRA race at Tulsa in 1971. Emmett Hahn won the race driving the Del Torrence Shotgun Sam's #1. Jay Woodside set quick time driving Bill Lewis's #54 car. The #007 is Charlie Wells.

That was 40 years ago on Memorial Day. You know that your getting old when you wer at an event and do not remember some things about it. I remember Emmitt winning over the hired gun Jay Woodside but I do not remember Charlie running his sedan with the supers. Just getting old

Back from 5 nights of racing in Central Pennsylvania and also a trip over to New Jersey as well, 3 nights of Wingless USAC Sprints and a night at Williams Grove and also a night at Selinsgrove watching an ol friend run his 358 Sprinter there. Makes me want to do the non wing deal more and more after seeing 3 nights of it.
Williams Grove is quite the speed place , they wing the cars down on the LR so much they will pick up the RF off the ground and carry it for 20 or so yards on those long straightaways. Pretty cool stuff, lots of 1/2 miles and bigger places up there.
Bringing some new shocks back to try and got lessons in Shock Tech. 101 while up there, it is the way to tune your car now, shock tuning or at least that is all the rage up in Pa. Time to get back after it with the Hog Wagon this Fri. night.

I can't imagine the tow bills to run non-wing races. Indiana or California every weekend. I sure like watching Ventura and USAC/CRA on the internet.
I see the URSS 305's are having a non wing show at Wakeeney. The problem with that is Jon Johnson will come out of retirement and load up and give them a schooling on how to race without a wing. I think he has done it at all the non-wing races in the last 10 years. One show at 81 I think he lapped everybody but 2nd place.

Were you just spectating or racing in PA? The wife and I was at Williams Grove Friday night and really enjoyed the show.
