Trammel , I believe Gambler laminated business cards in their hoods, I remember seeing several through the years and one was Tommy Holders ol Gambler 100" car had the car laminated in the hood. Gambler did a lot of their own pieces when they were going hard at it in the 80's and early 90's , I know I have seen Front and Rear Torsion Arms with Gambler name machine milled into them, I believe I have also seen Gambler Birdcages as well they were kind of like the Old Bishop Racing Components when Bishop family ran it , they built a lot of their own parts and pieces as well , Birdcages , Spindles, Fuel Shut offs etc. and as you know now neither do not, it is all built in mass quantities by several Big Suppliers or built overseas.

It would be good to find a Gambler birdcage. My car has Bishop parts and the quality is outstanding. I went to buy a mastercylinder rebuild kit at Bishops and was talking to Danny Shouse he still had some original Bishop stickers. I picked out a few for my next Suckey project. It would be great if JD and Danny would build a dirt champ and come out and play. I would lick to see a picture og a Gambler hood with the car picture.

I know those Gambler Birdcages were done back in the late 80's to early 90's I believe.
One day down the road gonna restore that 98 Non Downtube Stealth and now that I got that 86 Nance midrail , that one as well.
I still want to try the competitive deal some more , won at just about all the tracks in the state that run Champ Sprints or the old 100" Modifieds and just got one more goal to do with Joe Wood Jr. and that is try and win one of those OCRS shows if that is possible before I call it quits on racing competitively, kind of compare that to winning an NCRA show back in the day, both were and are tough to do or I guess everyone would be doing it.

The NCRA was a great show. You would walk around the pits and talk to the out-of -towners and see how their cars and trailers were different than the local. The first time that the Isacc cars came we were all amazed. One team with both drivers capable of winning. Bill Lewis hired jay Woodside to drive his car in the furst NCRA show and he finished second to Emmitt in the Bud-mobile. That was Emmitt's first big win and probaly got him the Zink ride. The 1976 feature was the best that I ever saw at the big track in Tulsa. Dale Reed was drivng the prettist super around, the Shot Hampton 94, he and George Armstong put on quite a show with Dale winning. That was a big upset the Tulsa cars almost always won at Tulsa. We considered Harold Leep a local by then, he could win on any track.

I was at Meeker Sat night and saw a Gambler left rear tortion bar. It is amazing what keeps showing up. There is alot of things to learn when restoring a car to its original state. Still looking and finding new things to keep the restoration on tract.

Trammel, If you go to some of the Auctions around here in the Winter Wichita,Ks. Dallas , OKC , you can run across some of that type stuff , guys who have it laying around and just want it out of there way , so they take it to the Auction to unload it, I have noticed that when attending these Swap Meets and Auctions in the past.

Billy Turner had a Gambler 100" car that was sold to Gene Whitaker and his dad back in 87 or 88 in OKC ,he ran it a couple of years and then he got out of the sport and Jack Claxton bought it and Tommy Holder drove it on the 1/4 mile till they quit running the 100" cars and I believe Paul Martens in Fairview , Ok. has the frame now, this car in the pic above who wound up running it?, It was not Gary Flatt in the Sonic #2 car and then a guy from El Reno (cannot remember his name) drove a Gambler with a Mopar in it and they struggled with motor issues about the whole time he ran and it was a # 91, blue and white. Just Curious?

I have the black 3c 100" Gambler that Tommy Holder drove. I bought it in January, 2009 from a gentleman in Wooster, OH. Looking for parts to restore it as either an Old-Time car or to build a Street-Legal.

It was also red several times during Tommy's tenure in the car in the 90's,watched the car run a many a Friday night at State Fair Speedway and also at Lawton Speedway.

Hey Trammel the frame you bought from Tim was origanally a sprint car. Tim bought the car as a roller from me in Feb 95 right before I moved to Indiana. Kyle Forsythe gave it to me and it had been stretched to a 100" car. Not sure if he ever drove it but I know Jerry Sprague did. I took it to David Truelove and he took the 14 inches back out of it in front of the motorplate and I had him put the downtubes in it with the heims. It was cool once I got it rolling you could crank weight in the car with the downtube lol! I think Tim did race it some but I'm not sure cause I was gone. More than likely it was a Wooley car before it got stretched. And I remember it was very light! Tobey Sampson

Tobey thanks for the comments about the frame . I have been wondering about the way it was made and how light it is. It would be good to have pictures of it. Interesting story on how I came by it. Tim lives down the road from me, I kept seeing a old open wheel race car trailer in the weeds and wondered about it but never stopped to ask about it. One Saturday I was passing by and Tim was cleaning up around his place and there in the middle of a pile of scrapt metal was this frame. Needless to say I pulled in to ask about it. Tim was taking it in for scrap metal.We talked a while and I gave ten dollars for it. I also had to promise him I wouldn't race it because it was too light . He didn't know much about it or who drove it. A couple weeks later I bought the rest of the parts he had injectors, brackets, some sheetmetal, a hood etc.Now anytime I see a trailer or whatever in the weeds I stop and ask. So was this a real Gambler car? Tim thought it was but didn,t know. Thanks Trammel

That Gambler 3C that Tommy Holder drove also won alot of races with Jerry Hailey driving.

Trammel, I believe Kyle passed away a while back and not sure about Jerry Sprague,as for David Truelove, I worked with him back in 2003 for a short time at a Trailer Manufacturing Co. in Norman and he and I both left there about the same time and not sure where he ended up at , I know he did live on the south side of OKC back then and he is married to a Wilson girl , her dad use to own that VW Salvage and Black Widow Speedway in Lexington,Okla. and I believe David tried his hand at promoting it as well one year.

Mr.Trammel,is there a serial # on your frame? it should be on the right top framerail in the cockpit area right around where your right knee would be, between where the front roll cage is welded on and the cage support. Often, it is hidden by layers of paint.It would be stenciled on. just an fyi but you probably knew that...

Toby thanks again. I come out your was usually twice a year to the Hot Rod renunion in Bakersfield and every couple of years to the LA Roadster show. It is the time to start working on the Gambler this winter. Was wondering if anyone knows if the Gambler stearing arms had Gambler milled on them?
