Exactly! When I tuned in and saw that parade that's the moment I changed the channel and I haven't spent a single minute watching it since. And then when the whole thing wound up being a hoax I knew NASCAR had for sure gone off the deep end. I wouldn't mind watching NASCAR again if they weren't turning it into politically correct, woke, sports car racing...

Interesting. I'm genuinely curious, why did that specific moment turn you off?

It does seem that Wendall Scott drove in a much more racist time and was accepted with much less drama. I wonder why that was.

Because it came off as a cheap publicity move, especially in light of the fact that the investigation into the incident probably hadn't even started. Had NASCAR waited until the investigation was complete and it actually turned out to be a hate crime then they could have made a public display like that and I would have been fine with it.

I see. We just interpreted the event differently. I read it as simply an anti-racism message in general. I didn't look at it as a message that was specifically about the garage incident, even though it was spurred by that. So in my mind, it was like "Why would people be upset about an anti-racism message?"

Many months ago when the dope-a-rope deal happened, I read that the government spent more than a $150,000 investigating that goofy complaint. I would have guessed the dollar amount would have been at least double that figure, flying all those federal employees in, staying at $250 a nite hotel rooms, federal per diem which you can guess at that daily cost, to investigate when a telephone call would have taken care of it. To make it look like the Nascar garage wanted to hang him---my God, wake up Bub. But he did get that "rain win".
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

Bubba got off pretty easy. The majority seem to think his behavior warranted a steep fine and suspension for rest of season. But the damage he did to himself will last for a long time .
|
Suffice it to say Bubba was handed an extraordinary opportunity and he could have handled many things much much better. He either is not getting good coaching or he is uncoachable. It is possible for him to run off sponsors with bad behavior.
Within hearing distance of Tri City Speedway

" cheap publicity move"????
If you were black & found a noose in your garage, wouldn't you take offense?
So they said later it wasn't a noose.... that doesn't mean his initial reaction was in any way wrong

Larson is a big, brave man when he is in the protection of his racecar. He will "move" or wreck anyone. However, he is quite the runner when confronted outside a racecare for his actions. His running from Bubba Wallace was hysterical.

these things happen, NASCAR handled it, no use in us of getting to worked up about it

Just think that money spent on that investigation would not pay for a good golf outing between 2017 and 2021.

Bubba should have a suspension or fine coming for wrecking someone on purpose. With all the head injuries that have been happening. What does he expect? If he isn't lifting why should Kyle? The first contact was a racing incident, when Bubba took Larson out on purpose that was dead wrong! Bubba and should put a plow on the front of his car.
|
You not to bright or something? Larson never touched him. Bubba took himself out. Bubba then decided to wreck larson at 190mph. Then left his car and crossed a active track, Then shoved Larson, Refused transport to the care center and then shoved a official. Than lied thru his teeth in his interviews.
Im with Earnhardt and Petty, Should have been gone for rest of the year.

What? I never said anything different. I never said Larson touched him. I know Bubba hit Larson twice after he hit the wall and then on purpose taking him out.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

You answered your own question
Wendell probably felt lucky to survive back then
People expect more in 2022
I MIGHT have seen Wendell race dirt track modified "jalopies" back in the early 60s at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro, Va. I know he raced there, & I have vague memories of a "colored" driver showing up once... long time ago, not sure

The FBI has spent big $$$ on dumber investigations, like the rock'n roll classic "Louie Louie" back in 1963.... 31 months??? I wonder what they spent on that.... converted to 2022 dollars?
"The following month an outraged parent wrote to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy alleging that the lyrics of "Louie Louie" were obscene, saying, "The lyrics are so filthy that I can-not [sic] enclose them in this letter."[294][295] The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the complaint,[296] and looked into the various rumors of "real lyrics" that were circulating among teenagers.[297] In June 1965, the FBI laboratory obtained a copy of the Kingsmen recording and, after 31 months of investigation, concluded that it could not be interpreted, that it was unintelligible at any speed"

Interesting. I guess I never really paid that much attention to the lyrics, other than a little of the chorus. Now I gotta go check it out...

I know the answer to the question. Most reasonable people know the answer. Only people who bring race into almost every discussion don't know it. I will help you out. The fact is that if you work hard at what you do for a living and behave like a normal human being no matter where you come from or what race you are the vast majority of people will accept and respect you. That is what Wendell did.
