Agree.  What a giant pile of bull$hit.  You "leave" your family ride one week before Nats, the family puts another driver in, you're too burned out to travel, but you travel to Knoxville anyways and jump in a different ride?  Does he think we're all idiots?

I Hope I don't get as nasty when I get as old as some on here are (good chance I am already older) I have always believed there are more good young people than bad. I also heard many sides to this before the breakup that have not been mentioned at all. I hope he gets this straightened out and races again. He has been fun to watch but it is really none of my business if he decides not to. The car is also 0 for how many without him? It is possible that he contributed more to the success than some give him credit for. No amount of money can steer a race car.

Hold on. You mean to tell me if numerous people were in a public forum discussing about what happened to you and the information was incorrect, you would just stay mum on the sidelines? Really?

Maybe it did happen that way, maybe it didn’t. It’s not for me to say. It’s not the same thing in the least, but I have been on some long drives across multiple states we would stop for fuel. Afterwards I thought I had enough energy recharged, but as we began the next leg, within 20 minutes, I was like, “I am not fine. Can you take over?” The response I got was “I thought you were awake?” I responded, “Well, I was wrong. Take over.” So who knows?

I do love all the Goober McBadasses online talking about how they wish they could just stop their job because they too are also burnt out. Or, wow, what a softie. Well here’s the dilemma for you Goober, either possess a skill that is in super high demand, or have the necessary resources to do so, and do it. Stop working. The problem those people have is that they can’t stop because they’re burnt out. If they do, they’ll probably get replaced. Such is life. A little secret for people who can’t grasp this…. Outside of your closest friends and family no one cares about your struggles or problems because they’re too busy dealing with their own.

He has the ability to step away and chose to do so. It’s his choice. I’ll miss him in Central PA because I enjoyed seeing him race. But hey, I’ll still be at Port Royal for the next two weekends watching whoever shows up. Time marches on.

Yea, lots of people here seem to be blaming Anthony. Who knows.... at least 2 sides to every story. I would love to see the team get back together too.

I'm an old fart myself, but had serious conflicts with my late father, so I know how it feels

I doubt too many folks are buying what he's selling.

I said from the moment he split with his Dad's team that I hoped somebody was looking out for him. It had anxiety/mental health written all over it. If you've never suffered with an axiety disorder or depression consider yourself lucky, and I'm not saying that's what young Mr. Macri is suffering with, but reading between the lines of his post it sure sounds like it. Anxiety can get so heavy that you'll do anything to get away from it (including quitting the day before a million dollar race). Many have done much worse than that if you get my drift. I've been there and it sucks. Keyboard warriors need to cut the kid some slack and maybe say a prayer that he has people looking out for him, gets help if needs it, and repairs any relationships with his family.

Hoseheads at it's best. A guy makes the A Main at the Knoxville Nationals and by the next weekend Hoseheads experts have ended his career

Accurate. I have zero inside info, but both sides are at fault. Maybe Anthony wasn't getting any t-shirt $$$ at all, which should not be the case. The only reason anyone buys that teams shirts is they like him. I for one, didn't. I like the soft cotton comfortable shirts, and am willing to spend a bit more to have one. Those things were sticky, not good looking.

That being said, it should have probably been handed differently by him.

As far as the folks saying he did it to himself and constantly threw tantrums in the pits--we've seen that from a lot of good drivers over the years, he isn't the first, won't be the last.

It's interesting you say that because when Jason Meyers "retired" the story that they fed everybody was something that you would have to be completely unfamilliar with what was going on to buy but most bought it as complete truth. The truth is ALWAYS the way to go and if you tell the truth as well as keep the story the same you are better off in the long run.

As a race fan I sure miss Anthony Macri in the 39m.  Most nights he was the show, especially at Port.

One of the most exciting wheelmen out there right now. The racing in PA is definitely not as good without him.

Amen to that.

And 25% ,  at least, of the home advantage is lost when the travelers come to town.

I agree that his comments sound fishy, BUT

I don't see why so many people here are giving him all the blame... were any of us there when Anthony & his father were "discussing" any of this?

His comments are beyond fishy. I can't believe he took the time to type all that knowing that almost everyone knows what actually went down. I don't know who he's trying to fool but I'll just say that release only hurt his current reputation more and I'll leave it at that.

Almost everyone knows? I couldn't even tell you how versions of the story I have heard. Which one should I believe to be among the everyone? One thing I can tell you is none of the versions mention any of the things that I have been hearing for a year or so. I am not however a big fan of this comment. I think he should have remained silent and just showed up to race some time if he wants to. I would be happy if that happens but that is entirely up to him.

Oh I need a break, he opens the door and  ????????  I hope he wins tonight just to hear what he says. Is he going to make the car real wide with the 39m right behind him ?
