never heard them? , your right, im usually up to speed with them barken away, dont make me wonder to the shop or dig through the trailer to find the exact # schonefeld muffler is required,(as of 2011) I have two sets of headers with mufflers, I had to kick out another 80-100 bucks to purchase more POS mufflers to comply with Knox rules, and now, "sounds" like again! as well , as our own local sprint track requires, Ill say this , the first chance I get, the crappy lookn muffered headers come off and my stainless Rocket pair (WITHOUT mufflers) goes on, religiously,

each individual is more or less sensitive to sound, its not because your hearing is bad that the sound doesnt bother you, pitches and frequencies effect others /ourselves differently, I love the noise, if its too dam loud, ill wear something, simple as that , now a child , with his future ahead of him, yes put some protection on, they need to learn to protect thier health too, its the parents/adults JOB to do this ,

As for WoO and Knox working for years to produce a muffler to use across the nation, what a bunch of B.S. to begin with, I dont care much for mufflers, but, to make a manditory # model and manufacture is appauling, who are these guys anyway? most of you hate Goodyears, but ,a manditory muffler maufacuter and model is ok? maybe we can all wake up tommarrow eat the same bowl of cereal ,same sandwich for lunch, and vanilla ice cream before we go to bed, 7 days a week..

Im not trying to sell your kids drugs, im not plotting a murder ,I dont hide dead pandas in my freezer, I just like loud racecars.. is that too strange ?

THE $80 T0 $100 DOLLARS YOU SPENT ON MUFFLERS IS LESS THAN HALF AS MUCH AS YOU SPEND ON A TIRE. wHAT ARE TIRES NOW, ABOUT $230 WITH TAX? THE MUFFLERS SEEM TO LAST FOREVER. WE JUST KEEP CUTTING THEM OF OF HEADERS AND REWELD THEM ON A NEW SET. THINGS MIGHT GET WORSE, MAYBE OBAMA MIGHT BE REALECTED.

your right, I would have rather spent my money on tires, something I know is going to make me faster and will wear out. (disposeable item) as a budget racer, mufflers have never helped me , so now, the teams with unlimited budgets are concerned how many sets of headers they can fit in thier 53' stacker trailer, maybe they will put $300 more diesel in thier coast to coast tanks ? I mean, really?, sanctioning bodies and tracks are concerned about large teams header budget? what is the price of these "welcomed" mufflers anyway ? say what you want, everyone has thier own opinion , one reason I quit posting on this forum was because everyone is so critical, I speak form a racer and a fans perspective, kinda rare, on occasion I have to put my butt in the stands, I kinda enjoy it too, just be carefull what you agree with, im simply saying niose and races go hand in hand, if you take some(more) of the attractions away youll be unhappy with the product .. be carefull what you wish for.. thats all..

They ones bitchin about mufflers have evidently never heard them... They are not that much quieter.. They just seem to take the "pain" away from listening to a race.. I didn't care for them when I raced JUST because now I could hear all of that valvetrain noise, but I eventually wore them... just too late..

For all you other macho no ear plug guys (Yea, Jackhole you too!) go stand in the infield at Pevely for a sprint race with no ear protection and see if you can walk tomorrow.. I too have hearing loss from being around sprints, blown fuel motors, racing drag cars and dirtbikes over the years...

BTW, and inch of your penis does not fall off IF you wear ear protection!

Smile "(Yea, Jackhole you too)" My dad was once threaten ed by Knoxville school board, for taking me out of school, too many times, to go to races. Pevely was the ice breaker!!! 1999 My dads death promise to "Vice principal Miller (before Furg) was the icing)

Off track, wait was I talking about, oh yeah, I love this sport!!!! Smile

And at the same time, everyone says we need to get NEW people / Fans to the races. By having them be EAR SPLITTING loud, we don't help our case.

Taking the edge off the noise just might bring some more people in the gates once in a while, did you ever think about that angle??

I see im proubly fighting a loosing battle here, to answer your question, No, I never have, im not a promotor, but on a small scale I have done rather well pulling interested parties out to a evening at the races, quite honestly, it makes me nervous, sooo many things can go wrong in a night that leads to negitivity of the light race fan, track prep, cautions, weather, seating, consessions quite honestly its a tuff sell regardless , I tend to think the core fans is what weve got, "we need exposure, we need tv", ya know, I kinda like it the way it is, Its my own underground, to us that love it, we go regardless if we have a commercial time out, look what tv has done to nascar, its simply short of fireworks at driver intro's and cage matches ,im a die hard race fan, but i have nothing for argument when a stick and ball sports fan tells me he thinks nascar is virtually orchistrated I dont think the Nascar Nextel racing is that great? , it takes a major yellow flag wreck to cause interest , or a month long scandal of roll cage bars to be thrown out the window anyway, really? thats what it takes for people to be interested? thats ok , I guess im a cat of a different color, and you proubly are too.. im proubly ventureing a bit off topic here , but, I mean, do we really need to dress SK in green tights, combat boots and a mask to get exposure? ,do we change everything about our sport to accomidate the folks that dont give a sh%t about it anyway? its a tuff world, alot of fans can spend thier money elsewhere, and they will if they so choose, in the meantime ill stay right here loud n proud just like the 283's/327's did back in 1962 , part of the noise is the attraction in my eyes(ears if you will), this reminds me of the battles the NRA has on thier laps, "guns dont kill people, people do.." I understand thier point ,but, I dont even own a gun either. Like I said, your entiteled to your opinion, I respect that , I choose to voice mine in paragraphs you (unfortunatly) have to read, you will not change my mind. thats all.

just for giggles, how many of you have sat across 14 sippn suds, and then, the roar of a engine perks your head up, your ears tip back, you quickley finish your beer, and off to the gate!! how many sit chillin out at the camper waiting for the bell to ring in the call of a roaring smalblock? and its, grab your tickets, sunglasses,wallet/ purse , seat cussion,a warm sweatshirt just in case ! and off to the gate !! as a child I would sit in my sandbox and cry, litterally cry, because I could hear the local races seven blocks away and I wasnt there watching, I dont think im alone on this one..
