Is anyone else confused with the press release? It sounds like it was found before the races? Is that how others read this? They let him run an illegal car?

That's how I read it. Is it possible that they said "it appears to be against the rules, but go ahead and race. We'll have to run this by our legal department and get back to you "? Just wait until your father gets home!

They found it before Saturdays race. He was able to run Saturday but not in the car that failed inspection

I'll bet Reutzel's bicycle had lightweight frame rails too, which is why he was so easily able to throw it at Johnson....

You forgot the KKR light frame car that Brad Sweet literally tore in half at Burlington a few years back. You also failed to mention about 430 reasons the Shark cars were so fast on year 2 and 3, if not even more recently.

This is accurate as well as the post you replied to. The WoO have a notorious reputation for sweeping shit under the rug to avoid bad publicity. I think it's the wrong way to do things but that's how they choose to operate. Eventually it's gonna bite them in the ass

People getting super worked up about this. I wonder what the reaction would be if it wasn't Reutzel? Regardless, a justified penalty, probably one that was deserved a while ago.
|
I know, right? All from people in a sport who love to gather around the campfire and gleefully listen to stories about tricks mechanics were able to get away with in the days of yore.
Someone who enetered into a competition with money on the line tried to skirt the rules and got caught. In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet. Its happened before, it'll happen again.

According to the lawsuit Doug Wolfgang filed. Even with the "sanction" of the Nationals. Iowa is a right to work state, and with racecar drivers being basically private contractors. They couldn't enforce a ban or suspension in Iowa at the time. They may have made other changes to laws or wordings since then. But if not and brought to court in Iowa I don't think the Outlaws would win this time either just due to the precedent set by the first. Not all states are right to work states so in other states they would have no problem enforcing a ban or suspension.
|
A) So called "Right to work" laws are about unions (supressing them). WoO isn't a union, its a business. Totally irrelevant
B) Why would Knoxville want to go against WoO anyway? Aren't they interested in safety too?

Murphy,
Aaron actually finished 13th and was one lap behind on Saturday night. He won on Friday.

What are the procedures for pre-race inspections with WoO? Do the drivers on the tour get checked every day, random for them so they can get through locals or something else entirely?

From the rule book:
Section 1 - Racing Event Procedures A. Pre-Race Inspections a. All cars entered and present at any Series event that are intended to compete in the racing event, must pass pre-race inspection prior to any on-track activity. Pre-race inspection may take place in a specified area and/or in the regards of space directly at the team’s transporter. Refusal to present vehicle or preventing officials from completing pre-race inspection
C. Inspection Procedures and Legality a. Officials may at their discretion, impound part(s) and/or component(s), engine and/or any other components and/or the complete car for competitive, and/or research data analysis. b. World Racing Group is not responsible for any cost incurred as a result of inspection. c. Officials may at their discretion, inspect any car entered for competition in any racing event at any time.

What a boneheaded thing to do! Definitely not worth taking the chance over! I wonder how many races he ran with that chassis last year with the ASCOC? Oh well he cheated, got caught, again, and now will have to deal with the consequences! Congrats to PPM getting the Roth ride. Thankfully Roth didn't pull the plug on the rest of the season! See you at Pevely and the Nationals! Emmitt may be getting Aaron back!!

If you aint cheating you aint winning..an old saying in racing
The main issue here is the safety violation..That frame was legal not too long ago

Another main issue is how Mr. Roth (and even sponsors) feel about things.

If you're gonna cheat (intentionally breaking a rule is just that) at least be smart about it.
There's also a saying that its only cheating if you get caught. So if both my first two sentences are true.....Why in the name of Zeuses butthole would Reutzel and company, upon deciding to run the chassis that had already been deemed illegal not have decided to sandblast the chassis to remove the white before painting it black? How in Hades did they not think the black would chip to reveal the white and cause others to not raise an eyebrow and begin to put two and two together, let alone the dodgey inspection sticker. Biggest buffoonery of a cheating attempt in decades.

I'd be lying if I said there wasn't some poetic justice in this, given all the trouble Reutzel has stirred up this year. When you get to the very pinnacle of your proffession, your supposed to carry yourself with some class, and and I for one haven't seen any of that with this driver since he's been on the WoO tour.

No one ever accused Reutzel of being particularly smart. We're talking about the guy who threw a bike at Wayne Johnson who could easily whoop his ass without breaking a sweat. There aren't too many people out there feeling much sympathy for him and rightfully so. His shit attitude & blatantly dirty driving hasn't netted him many friends. Sometimes you reap what you sow and in this case, that's exactly what's happening. It's a known thing that WoO tech has regularly given "warnings" for tech violations. Doped tires, big motors and tubing thickness have all been issues with other teams (there's a post on this thread already which goes into more detail and is spot on) and hell even though virtually no one can stand him, he was even granted a pass not once but twice and he STILL tried it. He apparently thinks everyone is as stupid as he is. Unfortunately for him, he was wrong and now he has to deal with the consequences of not only this incident but the many incidents before which gave him the horrible reputation that he already had before all of this blew up. He only has himself to blame.

The Cluck from Clute.
Obviously his arrogance has finally blown up in his face, & not by a punch from Wayne Johnson!
