Pull your head out of Chucks butt so you can see better, read the question again and then give a thought out answer.

If it had been an NSL show Dollansky, Lasoski, Swindell, Tatnell, Brown, Heskin, Ian and Kerry would have all been there.

Possibly Maecshen and Tasker.

Maybe the better question would be, how many of those would have shown up at Badlands had there NOT been a conflicting NSL points race somewhere?

Stuff like this makes me wonder if tracks all along were making good money paying lower purses and Brennan is willing to take less, or if he is spending more than he is bringing in and isn't feasible doing this long-term.

I dont think Knoxville makes much at all for the weekly shows but the nationals make up for it.

Does TQ of the NSL read these forums?  If so, I'd like to ask if the people in DesMoines got a discount on a 14 car show?  They should.  Its not fair to pay full price for half of a show.  Also, saw where they guaranteed 30 cars in the field or to start the A main in Jackson a couple weeks ago but only had 27? cars show up.  NSL is a great new league...but they are not on some solid footing or ground just yet.  The money Badlands is tossing around will win in the end.  Knoxville and the NSL may want to just work with Badlands, not the other way around.  IJS

As the owner of Badlands said,,The next time I hear Knoxville I'm going to puke...I think he made his own bed. He has no desire to work with anyone but himself. Todd is doing the best he can with what he has. Hell the Outlaws only have 12 or so with them, they depend on the locals filling the show. And as far as 14 cars,,I'll take quality over quanity any day. I don't need to watch a 30 car field that over half wouldn't make the D main of the Nationals.

Wouldnt have this mess if Souix Falls would have stayed with Sunday nights and everybody would have won.

The way I'm seeing it from up north of the Twin Cities is that we're watching  bidding war between two people with deep pockets.  We've got an IRA show half an hour to the east and UMSS 360s 50 minutes to the north this Saturday.  NSL and Badlands are like a couple black holes sucking cars from every other nearby Sprint show.  If you think you've got it bad at Badlands or Knoxville you should be in our shoes.  I live five minutes from the Tatnells and an hour from Craig Dollansky and my cousins husband is on Haskins crew.  If I want to see them race I have to spend six hours of windshield time and $80 on a motel.  Don't see any of them staying home to run with the Outlaws in July like they did before NSL.  That's my take on NSL and Badlands.  No track trying to turn a profit can compete with these two deals.  I may opt for the grille and beers in the back yard until all of this madness sorts itself out.  Not everybody has the time and money to go on a road trip every weekend just to chase a form of entertainment that we used to see nearby.

As for someone who actually attends the races at Husets/Badlands and the Jackson Speedway I always wondered why they kept racing on Sundays.   Even back in the days before the traveling teams they ended up with the leftovers if someone crashed or blew up before Sunday.   The Sioux Falls cars kept alot of fans going to Jackson and supporting that track even back in the modified days.   All YOU whiners most likely never  venture too far away from your own tracks like Eagle, Knoxville so what is the big deal anyways.

I'm just grateful that so many are willing to spend their kids inheritances, retirements & grocery money to entertain me at the races.   In my own opinion we have too many sanctioning bodies now.......   Let the tracks make their own deals with the Big Time Drivers to show up to help sell tickets just like the old days.

Where did it have that the A at Jackson was GUARANTEET to start 30 cars I saw it would be a 30 car A you can't start 30 cars if you only get 27 right   Glen Murra

well stated stan!  i currently live an hour and a half north of duluth and to see any form of sprints are a rarity for me let alone the travel to see them is a massive pain too.  While watching these 2 heavy weights slug it out is extremely interesting it is doing no favors for any other sprint car series in the midwest.  While i do believe we will see the likes of kerry madsen, ian madsen sammy swindell and a handful of others for the Outlaws at Cedar, it will definitely take away a couple of other drivers that we normally see.  Either way one of the tracks will definitely be hurting at the end of the year, will it be Knoxville and Jackson or will it be Badlands?

There is Just not enough Good Cars In the Midwest. I don't see the NSL Lasting 5 years.

Based on the first few weeks it's looking like Badlands has got an edge on the car counts.  Half miles are harder on motors and most of the NSL races are on the two half mile tracks so that is one point that hasn't come up.  I don't wish failure on the NSL or Badlands but my days of going much further than the 40 minute drive to Cedar Lake are pretty much done.  When they have an adverse affect on my local shows I can't help but feel some resentment.  No promoter who is watching their bottom line can compete when these deals are throwing money around like this.  Something is going to suffer as a result.

I fail to see both of your points.  North of the TC you aren't going to find much outside the IRL and Uppermidwest what ever the name of it is.  So Stan you are saying that the NSL and Badlands took cars away from either of those series?  Which ones?  Yes, two tracks 120 miles away from each other or whatever the distance is paying more money than precedented in the past and that is a bad thing for the midwest sprint car scene because you live north of the TC?  It's been some time since I've lived in Rochester, so correct me if I'm wrong.  You have cedar lake, deer creek, princeton in that neck of the woods right?  Has the NSL really taken away from any of those tracks?  Has the Badlands affected those low budget racing teams?  Hell, I grew up in Jackson, a bit bias for that track, but try living in Colorado and bitching about driving a 3 hours to see a race. There is NOTHING here.  I live off PPV except for the 3 times a year I travel 14 hours to see a good sprint car race.   As far as the  "maddness" you describe, two race track owners paying a better purse than your local tracks is, despite what you think, is good for the sport.  And yes, I understand your wife doesn't care for the travel time, cost, as well as you not taking photos anymore, it does justify you not making the trip to either of the tracks.  I get that for real, no sarcasm.   Back to topic, I'd love to see 3 track circuit, but it just isn't going to happen this year, maybe next year when things settle down and all the track owners see the bottom line.

Disclaimer:  This isn't a shot at stan nor northstar.

North Star,

The WoO show at Cedar Lake in July is co-sanctioned with the NSL so you should see just about all of our top teams there for the Friday night show...z

First of all is the NSL really a series 90% of its races at 2 tracks trust me when I say this Chuck knows a full infield equals full grandstands already two huge crowds on nights that people didn't have to go to work the next day I guarantee he's not lifting off the gas pedal and I for one love it and by the way the racing at Badlands has been awesome. By the way the the puke comment get over it you don't tell a successful business owner how to run a business.

Dude we are talking about a TRAVEL SERIES PURSE, Just like the World of Outlaws, ASCS, and All Stars. Badlands is a WEEKLY Purse, you dont have to travel to all this tracks to get that GREAT Payout. Ask the teams that are 21st best car at an NSL show what there pay is, then ask the 21st best driver at Badlands what his pay was for the night.

Lets compare apples to apples here. All TRAVELING series purses and then all WEEKLY purses.
