Statement from Paul's wife on Facebook

"Statement from Jan McMahan;
On my behalf of my entire family, I wanted to say thank you to everyone for their kind words, concern and encouragement regarding Paul and the CJB team parting ways. We appreciate all of the support. Let me just say that this was one of the hardest decisions Paul has ever had to make and it was a long thought out process with a lot of he and I discussing what he should do. Trust me when I say it wasn't easy. I've shed so many tears. When you race for a team for 3 years they become family. Along with that comes not always agreeing on things, many family meetings, lots of heart to hearts, lots of laughs together, sharing of personal life events and you have a love for their well being. But at the end of the day this is a business and as hard as it maybe the business relationship has to be separated from the personal relationship. We can say that we are still and will remain friends with Chad and Jennifer (Jenny ??), Chad Jr., Lil Braydon , Barry and NNatalie Jacksonand their family, the crew guys, JJarrod Nyceand many others involved in that entire operation. Although, me being a woman and a big hearted one at that, I've shed many tears lately and have been an absolute wreck. For me it's hard to separate the two relationships of business and personal. We've lived this life a very long time and as tough as it is to not have a ride yet, I believe that God has his plan for us and that my husband is a gasser, and one of the nicest guys out there, so something will come along his way. I believe in him. Again thank you for the support.
"

Statement from CJB Motorsports on Facebook

"As most of you know CJB Motorsports and driver Paul McMahan will part ways after the completion of World Finals next weekend. On a good note we will part in a friendly way and on good terms. On a sad note we are sad to see Paul go as he is truly one of the nicest and most fan friendly drivers we have ever had. Everyone at CJB wishes Paul and his family nothing but the very best! CJB Motorsports will issue an official press release shortly."

I'm not sure he walked away according to the rumors going around.

Does Saldana take that ride?

Have you had the opportunity to pull your foot out of your mouth yet?  You can take your rumors and your vast amount of knowledge and file them right in with the ol "my best friends, uncles, 3rd wife's, cousins, step-son's, girlfriend" told me blah bla blah bla bla file.  All of you keyboard jockeys proudly announcing rumors that have no merit are what make this message board a total dump.  Do any of you realize that every wrong "rumor" you blow hards throw out there directly affect the person and their families in ways you will never imagine?  Paul left the ride on his own and that is a fact.  Let me guess, your next rumor will involve Doug Wolfgang getting back together with Danny Piece?

Lol, how did me saying I heard rumors on IBRACN.com have anything to do w/ Mcmahan making his decision? And now we hear that Saldana has already been offered the ride? Shocking. Have another one pal....

Pretty sure I saw Wolfgang and DP talking at the 50th Nationals.....so they must be getting back together for the 60th!

Put Lucas Wolfe in the car.

Sheldon Haudenschild would be a better pick. Very talented young man.

I'm sure most on here like myself wish Paul well and hope to see him land a good ride for next year.

Nothing new new about what happened. Owners change drivers like some people change socks.

Hell before Sammy raced for us we had a ? On the car where the driver name went. Lol

hopefully he he will give a young gun an opportunity. I don't think Saldana will be a good fit. My opinion only

Thank you dirlover. That was my point exactly.  But with Mr. IBRACN he obviously does not care about how his rumors affect not only the driver, but his family also.  This has been the case for many years though.  Once something is out there, and even if it is a rumor sometimes the damage is done before people realize it wasn't true.  And what exactly is the rush to get things out to the public? To draw hits to your web-site?  In Barry Jackson's interview he stated that they would name the driver in the next 7-10 days but the same web-site has to go and announce who they have heard the 2 drivers may be.  What good does this do.  Why not let the team do it they way they want?  It's "shock-jock" journalism is all it is.  Totally pathetic.

Exactly! Now it makes sense.  You heard a rumor on IBRACN that wasn't a fact and felt the need to blab it when it was wrong.  Paul left the ride on his own.  That is a fact.  Have another what? Another case of decency?

So websites, journalists, and other various media outlets are only there to serve as the mouthpieces for the drivers, teams, series and issue press releases?  They are only supposed to write positive things, is that what you're saying?  Look people, it all comes down to this.... consider your sources.  I know that when read an article from Jeremy Elliott, he has waited to gather the facts, and it'll be 100% true.  Look at the delay in releasing the info about SSP.  People had suspected that for quite some time, but it wasn't 100% official yet.

I also read ibracn.com and I enjoy the little nuggets of information I gather over there.  I also take it with a grain of salt.  I will say though, I think they do a great job of labeling it "rumor" or "fact".  You know what you are getting into.  We're human beings.  We like tidbits that make you go "Hmmmm."

Like it or not, there is a demand for information across all fields and that includes sprint car racing.  That demand sometimes includes the information being rushed out.  Do you, or have you ever read Jayski's NASCAR site?  I don't see too many tears being shed over the silly season rumors over there.  Bottom line is you can't have it both ways.  If you like the media to be there and cover things when you do well, you can't complain when negative* things happen and its reported.  Some people choose to report on rumors and some don't.  Me, personally? As long as it is explicitly labeled "rumor", and it isn't some egregious lie like, "Saudi Sheik to buy World of Outlaws Series and Move it to Riyadh Permanently" I don't see any harm in it.

To paraphrase Uncle Ben from Spider Man, "With great 410 rides, comes greater scrutiny."

*I don't think McMahan and CJB parting ways is negative.  Just part of the business.  I think he'll find a good ride somewhere.  He always gives it hell.

I wish Paul and his family nothing but the best! He is a very good driver and a good person. They had a tough year, and in most sports the owners only realy care about today, so I'm sure there was some discord within the team. The last two years weren't enough to consider what might still be ahead for the team. There's no way Paul walks away from a happy situation. So.....evryone can read between the lines but only the entire team amd owners know everything that led up to this. I do have news for the CJB owners, though. Get used to running behind TSR and KKR. That isn't going to change. Schatz didn't win all the races he won this year because others failed to have a good season. That team simply out ran and out smarted the rest, and have a lot of years of experience to go with them. The teams that continually keep starting over aren't going to get it done. Only a few drivers in the history of sprint car racing could go to a new team and keep pace at the front and win against the very best.

You're exactly right. The fact is if they wanted to get to the level of KKR and Donny Schatz, I'm not so sure they hired the right driver in the first place but obviously they believed in him at first and quite frankly he exceeded my expectations over the first 2 seasons. I never thought the 51 would finish top 3 in points until they had at least 3 or 4 seasons under their belt and I didn't think they'd do it with Paul because although he's very good, I never thought he was one of the elite drivers. Fact is though, while everyone else keeps changing shit (KKR included to some extent) while trying to catch lightning in a bottle, Schatz and Warner are just getting that much stronger while using the same stuff that they've been using to kick everyone's asses over the past decade.

Reading IBRACN's post I don't see even the slightest insinuation that Paul was let go.

Before the story about him leaving the ride, came that. They were already talking to other drivers. It's completely irrelevant now, but that was the original post.

hell kkr pretty much sucked this year to the closest competion schatz had this year was shane with the larson marks team. as long as the 15 teams stays together it going to be tough for ANY team to have a 10 win season other that the 15 team

I live about six or seven miles from Paul here in middle TN, I have never seen him here around home. I travel to see Him and the other drivers as well. Paul is balls to the wall every time I've been to a race - no exceptions. As he and I talked in his hauler at Haubstadt this year - all the teams at that point had been bringing their A game to the table. They have all been chasing Donny and their A Plus game. All the teams have given their best performances as this season has progressed and Schatz & team have been very aware of that as well & stepped to the plate. Without a series sponsor, that has been very good for the teams & WOO. But everyone can't be at the top. It is the same in all professional sports. Not all owners can be on top either all the time. Respect their decisions, both Paul's and CJB Motorsports. Don't make it more than what it is - business! If it were easy we'd all have teams. Speaking of business, WOO needs to get a series sponsor or we may not have this level of sprint car racing to enjoy. Best of luck at Charlotte Paul !

Says who? Paul drove the #20 Tony Stewart Motorsports Bass Pro Shops car before or after Danny Lasoski, I believe after. It's now Tony Stewart Racing in case you were referring to Paul's wife's Facebook picture.
