thats cool fan for life, but dont blame other people when a part time driver isnt cutting the mustard because he has other things on his mind instead of the race car, no problem there at all

and like any driver would tell you. If the car owner wants to only race Knoxville for points and doesn't go to races like the Kings Royal, Gold Cup or any other WoO races cause of knoxville points, then all you get mostly is part time drivers. It is hard to make a living Just racing regular Saturday nights at any local track. Need to atleast race 3-5 nights a week.. Alot of drivers are willing to go out on the road with a car but if the car is just going ot sit at one track and every once in awhile go to a Friday show. Then they need to keep money in the bank with a real job.

Some things just don't work out. Both at fault ... team or driver at fault ??? ....neither at fault ..... (I will agree it's certainly not because they're underfunded as a team) how many posters here married a woman (or man) and ended up divorced ? Pretty good bet you wouldn't have gotten married if you knew it was going to end up in "splitsville." Something changed/happened or you wouldn't have put yourself in the trick bag to start with. There is obviously a "disconnect" somewhere on this team, but that doen't mean someone or thing is to blame. Life can many times be all about timing and circumstances.

Billy doesn't have what it takes?........Isn't this the same Billy Alley that is the defending Knoxville Raceway Champion? What, he forgot how to drive over the winter....doubt it. And it seems that spending time at the shop is a big issue for some of you....how much time did he spend at the shop last year when he was driving for the 17g car?.....not as much has he is now.

The bottom line is that this team is snake bitten. Things are going wrong for the team that just doesn't happen on a normal day. They will work through it and get it figured out. Having a young kid driving and a young kid crew chief makes it a little harder than one would like. GO BILLY!

Billy Alley and the Ver Meer Motorsports Team had another great weekend as they finished third at Knoxville and then backed it up with a runner up finish at Husets. The second place finish at Husets was the fifth top five in a row for the 55 car.

"We have been really, really good these past few weeks. We are working together as a team and our results have shown how well things are coming together. I thought we had a shot at our first win at Knoxville but it wasn't meant to be. We got behind on the start and I worked into second, but (Calvin) Landis was pretty good on the top and there just wasn't enough on the bottom for me to get past him," said Billy. Billy lost a spot to a hard charging Dusty Zomer in the late stages of the race to finish third.

"Sunday night at Husets I really think we had the fastest car on the track. We started sixth and made it up to second. We really needed a yellow or a couple more laps to have a shot at Dobmeier, but we've really found a great package for that track. I think our progress in Sioux Falls is carrying over at Knoxville and it is only a matter of time before we get one," said Billy.

Blue Tooth....Billy still has the trophy and that is the stat that is important. BTW, how many cars has Schatz passed this year compared to how many has passed him....I'll bet that stat will floor you. That stat doesn't mean much considering the fast guys start towards the front in most cases. Have a good one.

I will say Billy was the fastest, or just as fast as Dobmeier when he was up at Huset's for weekly competition.  It'd be great to see them come up here to regain some of that confidence they are missing, but money must be getting tight in the 55 camp as we have not seen him since the 4th.  Best of luck to Billy, hopefully they can turn it around and put the car in the A for the Nationals for his 3rd straight year.

Let's hear it for all of the fans willing to stand up for Billy Alley! He is a good guy and certainly deserves a better ride than he has now. Maybe a new crew chief? One who has more experience? I wish I knew the answer because every race that Billy drives the penalty box holds him back from learning more. Billy, I'm sure you'll read these, so just remember that we all share your frustration. We know what you can do when you have the equipment, team and experience behind you. We're all going to keep our fingers crossed that something better comes along REAL SOON!!!

The old thing!

i agree with you he needs a better deal, I hear there is an opening at DEI,maybe ferrari could pick him up for F1.. You just showed your intelligence and very little it was! There is not a better deal at knoxville. three new jjs then a new maxim,3 new don otts what more could a driver ask for. They have given him whatever he wanted, done the car like he wanted but it all doesnt matter when i am sitting in turn 1 last saturday and he is rolling off the throttle getting into the corner.......but hey maybe that could be the crew cheifs fault i dont know????????

maybe it is time for him choose one of his careers and as of right now concreting is looking pretty good..and as for you wesmar maybe you should drop a crank on your foot!

Yes gary, he must just suck now... he must have just forgotten how to drive since last season. Amazing... Can you remind us again of how well the 55 has done since Kerry left? Was it PJ Chesson in the car at Nationals? Oh, but if you ask the crew I am sure PJ just couldnt drive it.

You can have the best equipment in the world, but if you dont know how to make it run it doesn't matter.  It sounds like he raced a lot better with "not the best" equipment but the crew cheif knew how to make it work.

This bullet tooth person seems like he might actually be the crew chief.  Any thoughts on that?

Billy and the boys are back where they need to be...fast and up front. This weekend was somewhat of a break through for the 55 Team as they put together two solid nights at Knoxville Raceway and Husets Speedway. Billy and the Ver Meer Motorsports machine were both well tuned and ready for action Saturday night when things kicked off at Knoxville Raceway. Billy timed in third quick and transferred through his heat to line up sixth in the A Main. Billy gained a row when Dustin Lindquist jumped the initial start before fans were treated to a very heated battle between Billy and Brian Brown. Billy eventually lost the spot but managed to take over Ricky Logan and Kaley Gharst to come home third when Doug Clark's checkered flag waived. "We had a good race with Brown there but next time I hope I come out in front. The car was coming on real good there towards the end of the race and I thought I had a shot at getting second from Skip (Jackson), but I almost lost a spot trying to get by him," said Billy. "It was great for us to pass some solid cars on the way to our best finish of the year." Sunday brought on a return visit to Husets Speedway. Billy and the 55 Team remained fast, but things didn't turn out as they hoped. "To be honest, I feel like the crew won the race but the driver got fourth. My crew chief, Matt Barbara, gave me an awesome race car. We started sixth and had a good run going. The track was taking rubber and I found it first and had made it up to second and thought I had a shot at (Dusty) Zomer. There was a red flag and on the restart I screwed up and let (Mark) Dobmeier and (John) Lambertz by me. From there I wasn't able to get back up there and we finished fourth," he said. "I feel awesome about how this team is coming together. My guys gave me a great car this weekend. This is the best it has felt all year and when it feels that good it makes me more comfortable behind the wheel. I think Matt and I are working good to find out what works for me and that makes both of our jobs easier. We are getting faster and faster and our confidence is building," said Billy.

not so, but it seems like you people are the judge jury and exacutioner on this one , your right fire the crew, tie them to the stake and burn em , how dare they be imperfect with the great one behind the wheel. May they be banished to the outer edges of the sprintcar world, never to return as punishment for failure, and may the great sprintcar lord zorg, bring down generations of plauge and pestilence on their inferior distasteful bloodlines, would that calm the savage beasts known as the faceless disingenuious facade known as the internet.
