Now 1 guy could prolly put a rear in by himself , with the turned down ultra light axle and the 2 Piece Magnesium Center Section and of course Ti Bolts and Nuts throughout the Rearend as well as Ti Lower Shaft and Ti Ring and Pinion and Alum. rear cover and of course we cannot forget the light weight Gears drilled and lightened up to go in our Ultra lite Rearend, Ya know the rearend is much lighter but also the Pocket Book is as well.
Not to forget rotational weight issues with the Ti inboard brake clamp and rotor as well as the ultra lite red devil inboard caliper as well.
Gonna guess 5 G's or a bit more would pick one up from your speed shop supplier , of course it would have to be Special ordered.
Agree on Mr. Nance being the great idea man. Like I said Chassis Builders still follow his ideas today.

MB_Motorsports, I will work on that getting a pic put on here.
Somebody answer me this , where did Nance come up with his Cage Design from around 80 on up , was it for safety only or also flex in the chassis. Just curious if anyone knows??

j.d.,i think it was partly due to a more simplified fab method. ya weld up the 2 halves in a jig then transfer to another jig, add tubing, weld ect and presto ... also the new cage was stronger. yep he was an astute dude as he started making mag pieces ,had foundries close to his
shop. don't forget the inbd brake he developed, and the splined wheel for the splined axels. he let jim gillium (sp) make the wheels, snd right away weld and the rest wheel nuts caught on with thiers.. quite a engenious man, la vern.....

The above chassis is a 1978 Mitchell, used of course by Karl and Steve Kinser. From what I'm getting, Nance supplied the internals and Karl had the frame. Dick Gaines had a bad crash and was on the mend, Steve filled in- and I guess a new car had to be built to replace the old one.
I know Laverne was up close on this car several times, especially since it won the first WoO title. I do remember it being mentioned the 80 and up cars could be built one side at a time, and then stood up and connected . The implication was this mad it easier to build frames on a large scale, quicker.

bushwacker, I was at Jim Gillams shop before he sold the Dura Light Wheel Co in Jacktown,Okla. he showed me around the place and got the grand pubah tour and also showed me the first spline designs him and Laverne did , pretty crude castings but with R & D they made them work and like I said stuff today still used , they just find ways to whittle on it and make it lighter/stronger.
So Laverne invented the inboard brake design, not Sammy Swindell like I have heard a lot of folks say and write??.
Here is another question I have often wondered and maybe sometime David Grace could answer this or i just need to ask him in person, I wonder why Pat Suchy never had Nance Chassis, he had Parsons,Jelly , Jack Rich, Gamblers ,but no Nance's if my memory is correct??.
