Cody, you speak the truth there. Truth is that there are not any promoters that will take over Enid and run it on a weekly basis, and with what weekly racing at Enid ended up being last year when Longpine quit, I don't think that even if they were willing, that they could afford to build the track's weekly program back up. I think that Enid is a specials track only, for better or for worse. Ed Beckley does not have to promote Enid, he has his own promotion company to tend to, and it probably makes him a hell of a lot more money than running Enid. During the winter months, he was considering dropping Enid as well. That being said, I wish that there were more sprint car shows, as I really enjoyed running at Enid's Winter Nationals last year.

It was on both NCRA and Enid Speedways schedule when they were first released and that is fact. After the fairboard meeting, which had alot of drivers show up and even cast their vote (those who weren't shy and were afraid to cast a vote). In the end the Enid fairboard voted for Ed to retain the speedway over C Ray Hall and Speedways Inc.

From my understanding, Ed took it personal and then dropped the NCRA sanctioned events scheduled for the track during the special events. A shame to as I think both parties talked about having the NCRA sprint car series there at least once as well.

While I am stating the above, let me make clear one thing on my end. While I do the press work for NCRA and will do anything for the series (except for one of their employees), I am also "pro-Ed" as the guy is a PROMOTER. He actually promotes the tracks he is at, rather than schedule, sit back and let it happen. Ed is a good guy who gets a bad rap by some, which in the racing business you are not going to make everybody happy.

This is an unfortunate thing, the split between Ed and NCRA, and hopefully common ground will be found so that the area's longest running sanctioning bodies can once again compete at one of the original tracks to have hosted a NCRA event back when it started.

Jaydad - no doubt you are much closer to the situation that I am.

But frankly I could understand the promoter not having a lot of good will for you personally. Now - of course its known you meant no personal offense - but you floated that idea out there that C Ray would have done SOOOOO much more....and in the end of that - you had the egg on your face. C Ray proposed the same deal Ed did.

And now thats just not good enough for you. You floated that out there man. IDK what you are talkin bout with the NCRA stuff. I never heard NCRA was going to run there. I wasn't even thinking of that as a possibility. YOU brought that. You say you put his lie out there about running ncra races? ummm....ok. for one - why lie for someone? lol. secondly - where was it EVER reported there would be ncra races anywhere? I didnt see this on his official schedule. The only talk I heard of it .... came from you.

Maybe this has much to do with the other thread. its too late to freakin read all that tho lol. But I will say - I've always respected your opinion jaydad - and you seem like a down to earth dude - but you, and a few others from your area that get on here....seem impossible to satisfy!!! This should have just died when it was stated they put the same bid in at the same time. your idea of C Ray racing enid weekly fell to nothing there. thats it. shoulda been done. why not just appreciate that you guys have a track? ANd better yet/most of all........why not just talk to the promoter about your ideas instead of running on here and telling on him when he hurts your feelings???

Like I said - without reading the other thread - I just dont know. But it does seem like Beckley could do some good things up there if you guys give it a fair chance. if there's issues to work out - then work the suckers out. and like I wanted to say to you a week ago Jaydad, respectfully, better to have a quality show once a month than 4 crappy weekly shows. you of all people should know this. I don't mean this to be lightning rod post at all - like I said Jaydad - always thought you a reasonable dude so I hope you understand - my only criticism of you is that you appear to be wanting more when you should be happy with and work with what ya got. or sumthin like that. no lie. i'm exhausted lol. I dont mean offense - hope you dont take it. But I like the idea of occasional specials up there - I think it really is the way to go up there. screw think - it really is. No promoter - not C Ray Hall - nor Beckley no whomever can bit the weekly loss it would take to build the weekly show back up. again - outside lookin in....but the window looks pretty clear lol.

you guys need to talk constructively. not tear down YET ANOTHER Enid promoter here on Tidbits......just my very respectful and humble opinion.

ok let me explain okcfan12,

last year i was all for Ed, he came in and raced on sundays filled the stands and had a car count.

In all the years ive been around racing it has never cost a fan a penny to go to tracks playday so Ed adds mud bogging to playday so he can charge the public to come watch racecars. That was one strike but the big one was when I made a simple statement on Enid Speedway facebook that simply stated that a lot of racecar drivers/ owners doesnt care about mudbogging or monster trucks. He got really offended and communicated like a child...so i asked why he didnt have NCRA shows scheduled(this was last wed) and he directed me to the NCRA site and told me it had shows listed for enid(didnt realize it was the old site) so i emailed NCRA and asked them and was emailed back saying that the shows were scheduled and all of them cancelled by ED BECKLEY. So when I asked him about lying to me about the NCRA shows he said he didnt care to speak to me and then he deleted me from his facebook. Here is the deal and how I truly feel.... Doesnt matter to me one bit what he does at all, for i truly believe that he wont be around after this year anyway. Doesnt make sense to me

to sanction IMCA for 9 races a year... If C Ray would get the track for 9 races at least it would be all about racing... not mudbogging on playday so he can charge the fans or monster trucks in the middle of the year. i just dont fly off the whim here, I personally know most of the drivers at enid and the majority dont care two cents about mudbogging or monster trucking. he said last year that he would have some type of points this year but that has turned into a laugher... I dont wish him bad at all for its alot of my friends that are travelling to race elsewhere. The only good thing that has come from this is that Im seeing alot of different tracks watching my friends race. Again, I dont wish Beckley bad but I will call BULLSHIT when its BULLSHIT!!!!

after some serious thought I find it better not to comment on any promoters ever again. No matter what I will no longer do that...if its that bad then it will all show its face anyway so no need for me to drop myself down to anyones level to prove a point.

Okcfan you and I have had alot of discussions on here and just wanna say thanks for bringing alot to my attention. I wish everyone a very successful year at ENID SPEEDWAY!!!!

David is right. The fair board took a vote from all of us there at the meeting to see if we wanted Ed or C Ray Hall. Only' one' hand was raised for Ed and MANY were raised for Mr. Hall and there were some not for either one. The fair board asked for are vote, we gave it to them and Mr. Hall was by far the favourite from all of us there that voted. What do they do? They give it to Ed. Why even ask us for are input or vote if they already had there minds made up?

Way to support a race track..I would delete you as well when you question what I care about.. Also thanks for supporting our sport so much. Not everybody agrees with a promotor but blasting him on the internet does nothing..sure turns away new fans and drivers and then tracks start to close

well okay there glen chapa,

i dont mind anyone having an opinion about anything but will call bullshit when its bullshit... plain and simple. No one bashed anyone just brought some things to light that were being hidden in the dark. Your opinion is greatly appreciated though so I appreciate the time you spent to put it on here.

Well maybe I was lil harsh..but with gas at $4 a gallon racing becomes very expensive for families and even if you hate a promoter the track still needs support. If track is doing well your chances at better management is greater

You know...I have been holding my breath on this one. I have no shame in telling you Enid Speedway is one of the tracks that I grew up on.

I used to hike the stands hollering Pop-Corn, Peanuts, Ice Cold Coca Cola. Same thing I did at Fairgrounds Speedway for Ogden Concessions. I think I was 9 or 10 years old at the time.

The funny thing about this is my Mom took me to Shepard Mall Bank in OKC to start a savings account for my earnings. So when the lady asked me what I did to earn the money, I said, I was a hustler (thats what they called us). The young lady at the bank snickered and Mom turned beet red. That had to be 1969 or 1970 and we seem to be in the same boat as we were back then.

I guess what I'm trying to across to you is the pissing and moaning about Tracks and Promoters will never change. That is a part of the game we choose to play. And if you don't wish to play...pick up your marbles and go home!

I for one like the Mud-Boggers and have friends that are into it. Pretty or Purtty bad for a Sprint Car guy to steep lower than ya'lls expectations of " lets kick thar asses".

Most of you need to go back to Grammer school and learn how to spell. Just saying.

From the outside looking in, I think Mr. Beckley is trying new promotion options to better Enid Speedway. Any event at any raceway will help the economy of the track and keep it alive and viable.

Yeap, Agree uncle. I remember when the NTPSA would show up the the fairgrounds for a mid week tractor pull. The stands were packed and to this day I can remember the pictures from that day.

I shouldnt have said anything no matter how much he was lying, for i said I wouldnt put him or any other promoter down again. I will keep my word on that no matter what....

I too grew up at Enid Speedway, I have been going there since I was 5 years old.... I have seen a lot through the years and is why i feel at times that someone should stand up in speak...

So I will not be that person and will just continue to go to other tracks, has been lots of fun so far, and support them and my friends that are travelling to race there.

In due time all will see exactly what Im speaking about,

I wish everyone that is racing everywhere a very successful weekend!!!

Jayson, everybody can appreciate your concerns, Hell I do. I think Mr. Beckley is on the right track to fill the Grandstands and slowley but surely pick up the racing in Enid as we knew it.

Think about it, bringing in other groups fills the stands and makes them aware of dirt track racing. The up side is these folks will most likely attened a dirt car race in the future.

Hell, I can remember when Bud Carson brought in Spankey Spangler, the guy jumped through a ring of fire off a ramp in a old '69 Chevelle or something like that. Then Mr. Carson had the guy (Mike ?) that sat on dynimite on the front staight..and it blew him 20' in the air. (that guy was nuts)

In my opinion it's about time Promoters start thinking back on gimmicks to fill the Grandstands. It can only help. So if Mr. Beckley chooses Mud-Boggers, most of those folks will come back to watch our racing.

After all if you are into Motorsports, You are addicted and you will watch any form of racing you can get your hands on.
