Does anybody know if the drivers are covered by health insurance? Does the insurance you get from your job cover racing accidents? I was watching ESPN today and they were saying that most of the X-games athletes aren't able to get insurance because it's too dangerous. Made me wonder if the same thing applies to weekend racers.

Thanks to the KRCO (Knoxville Raceway Charitable Organization) and all the people that sell 50/50 tickets at Knoxville, drivers in the points standings have been given drivers insurance from STIDA. They are covered at any track they visit (if I remember correctly), but this is paid for as being a Knoxville regular. They have, also, been given (over the years) Butler Built seats, seat belts, helmets, fire proof underwear and gloves, Design 500 suits, and probably more that I have forgotten. So buy those 50/50 tickets folks, it goes to a great cause to keep these drivers safe!!
