LD to pilot the 20 at BAPS Saturday. Historically been a 360 ride, so quessing this is a one race deal.

Sounds like a one race deal for now, the Shearer's are on a family vacation. Sean has run some 410 races with the 20, he and Lance have a ton of experience between them. Sean has also been helping on the Buch 13

I don't understand posts like this. Dude most likely doesn't know Lance personally. Nor do I, as I'm from Knoxville and live nearly 1000 miles away. OP is an asshat. You strap yourself into a rocketship and see if you can even turn the car left without killing yourself, let alone run it at a high level.

Oh yes I do know him and that is why I do feel the way I do.

What about Hodnett?

Sorry but he is behind the big 3.  He is somewhere in the top 5 though.

Greg won more races from 1998 to 2018 than anyone else in central PA. During that span, Lance won 2 National Opens, Greg and Fred each won one. His speedweek numbers are better than Lance's during that span and he has more championships. He also won more Williams Grove titles during that time span than Lance or Fred. Fred retired in 2013 so that certainly factors in. He's also 3rd all time on the Williams Grove all time win list. Lance has 114, Fred has 90 and Greg has 73. During that time, Greg has the highest win percentage there as well. During that time, Greg also won about the same amount of WoO races at WG. Couldn't find the exact number Lance won during that span but Greg has 9, Fred has 9 and Lance should have somewhere around that number. Again, between 1998 and 2018 during Gregs time as a regular. He's absolutely top 3. The stats support it. He did more in 20 years than anyone else. Unfortunately, we'll never know where he would've ended up all time. Lance is undisputed as far as stats go but keep in mind, Fred didn't start racing 410 sprints until he was around 27 or 28 years old and Greg didn't get to PA until he was 29. Lance started when he was 20. So obviously, he has longevity on either of them. Hard to say how long Greg would've kept going but he was still running up front consistently when we lost him. Think he had 6 wins or so in his final season. The craziest luck I've ever witnessed cost him the Port title that year and he had the Central PA and Williams Grove titles pretty well locked up before his death. In comparison to Kauffman, Greg had him beat in every category other than Port championships and career wins at Port. He beats Kauffman pretty handily in Tuscarora 50 wins, National Open wins, World of Outlaw wins (both in Pa and on the all time WoO win list), speedweek wins and titles, All Star wins, Grove titles and in all the annual big races, all time wins at WG

Greg still not as good as.  This is for a whole career not just a portion of time.

1. DeWease

2. Rahmer

3. Kauffman

Nope not as good as these three mentioned above.

Lets also not forget, Kauffman was out of the area racing on the road with the Outlaws & All Atars for 10 years.  How many for local PA wins may he have had, another 50 or so?

Everyone always brings up Keith's ten years on the road. He was not gone for ten entire seasons. He had full season rides but many of those years he was only gone for part of the season to fill in for someone. He was one of the best but he was not on the road for ten full seasons. His best chance on the road was the Coors 48 car and the owner died shortly after getting that ride.

Keith's best chance on the road was in 1989 when he got the Petitte/Cook #3 ride to run the full WoO schedule.   It all ended when Jasper Petitte had his heart attack.  Then Keith got the Coors #48 ride.  It seems like Keith always got the good Outlaw rides right as the teams were fading.  The #48, the Sonner #47 , the Wahalie # 1W.  Keith ran the Saucier #20 in 90.and 91 on the WoO trail but they were under funded.  He got the Wintermyer 1W in 1992 and did well locally and then Leon partnered with Turnbaugh/Shaffer in 1993.  Keith got the Weikert ride in 1993 when it was on the downside. Heck some race in 1994 he ran as a teammate with Craig Eshenhauer and drove Sal Scarpitta's car also.Keith was off and on rides till 1996 when he got the Apple #12 ride after.Fred left.  He did good in that car for.the rest of the year, but they didn't keep Keith for 1997.  In 1997 and 1998 Keith ran the U2 on the All Star circuit and got second in points.

I was at the Grove the night he won in Sal's car in early 96 he got the Apple ride when Fred left for the Hamilton 77. The win at the Grove was I believe Sal's only win there. Also saw him win at Lincoln with Warren Johnson's U2 in an early season race. You are so right about the timing with his opportunites in travel rides. But like Lance he could take any car to a win. Guy was a total pro.

Parts of ten years. It was far from 10 full seasons and there were a few of those (Wintermyer,  Eshenaur, Weikert in 93, Apple in 96) where he ran most if not the whole season here. Keith is a stud. No question about it. He won in a lot of different cars and not all of those were top shelf. He'll always be one of my favorites

I'm comparing their Pa record. That said, their time on the road with the WoO was pretty similar too. And Greg has by far a better record at Knoxville including a podium in 1997

I didn't know they moved Knoxville to PA.  I said PA at Pa tracks,  that was the top three.  Nothing outside PA was thought about.

Ok....so I was initially talking about their PA numbers specifically then it was YOU who brought up their whole careers which for Keith and Greg, includes some time spent on the road. I'm aware of where Knoxville is. Since you brought up the entirety of their careers, I cited their record at Knoxville. I should've known trying to have a rational conversation with an arrogant self absorbed dickhead like you was a fools errand. All you ever want to do is argue and in this case, keep moving the target to give yourself something to argue about. You're pathetic.

This reminds me of a scene in Charlie Brown Christmas when Lucy is arguing with Schroeder, just for the sake of arguing:

Schroeder, who had had enough: "WADDA MEAN BEETHOVEN WASN'T THAT GOOD?!"

Lucy, playing the game common in social media:  "Well, he never got his name on bubble gum cards!"

*In the interest of fairness, Beethoven's win record in PA and with the WoO is as good as any other classical composer. FACT!

Where is Beethoven against the AllStars and in the bigger races in PA? ....just saying.

As far as total wins and big wins 2 through 5 in PA are really close.  Beethoven still not in the top 3.... sorry to disappoint you.

Comes down to which you value more, longevity or performance for however long you were competing

Like Sandy Koufax vs. Clayton Kershaw in baseball

I don't have the stats in front of me, but I would guess Hodnett was better when he was around. But then again I didn't start following sprint cars until 2010, when Kaufman was past his prime & Hodnett was kicking ass

You have to look at multiple things but big shows and most wins in a career plays heavily in central PA for the rankings.
