How about their announcement of  88 THOUSAND $ for 50/50??? Thats pretty hard to believe, a potentially life changing amount (definitely so for me!) Considering driver gets 50% or less of winnings, that about equals driver's share...

I was at boring Allstar race in upstate NY a few years ago, & 50/50 was over $7,000, more than entire winning TEAM purse. Pretty sure Dietrich won that one....

The other half of the 50/50 goes to one of Tony's charities.

Some people like to bash Danny, & I admit I've goofed on him at times myself, but I don't have anything against him. Nobody's perfect.

As for "Double Douche", I think thats a bit harsh. I prefer "Double Doofus" wink

As a rare poster and yet knowing the lay of the land here relatively well, I was hoping to pull off a muse of the second place news moment and had the interviewer made it in the frame of the picture a bit more, it may have seemed more like I intended. As for disprepecting racers, I don't do that - at least even if attempted humor fails in the process. I'm a DD fan. The guy has the edge that makes me buy tickets - as does the rest of sprint world.

I generally extend latitude towards all racers as it's nearly odds-on that a racer will show their worst side to us long before we show them ours.

See ya all at L-ville tomorrow!

Pretty good weekend all things considered, pretty good. The Fan Quality Index (F.Q.I.) was unexpectedly high, other than the people standing at the start of the feature.

Just a few things I'd like to see cleaned up.

1. The 2 'Earls' dressed in black on the Kings Royal court, you can't be wearing shorts & a pair of New Balance sneakers under that outfit. You have to get some nice dark slacks & dress shoes on underneath. Let's get that fixed.

1a. There should be (3) 'Earls' dressed in black, not (2). And they should be wearing a gold cross similar to the high Priest.

2. I want the full KR declaration speech brought back. It was originally about an 80-100 word formal speech that got paired down  over the years. Let's get that right again.

3. The red carpet needs to be run down over the inside frontstretch wall and extend out onto the track about 6-8 ft. like it used to be.

4. Let's bring back the real gold tapestry backdrop, not that fake vinyl shit. And it needs to have (2) authentic lit torches above, not  that propane flame bar running the length of the top of the stage.

5. For the love of God let's stop with the desecration of the Crown. It's not the g-d damn Stanley Cup. Nobody and I mean  NOBODY  should be wearing it except the winner of the race. I don't want to see the wives or gf's shot-gunning beers with it on, I don't want  it making any appearances in strip clubs, or God forbid involved in any weird sexual role play. If you can't respect the Crown it should be taken away like Reggie Bush's Heisman and an asterisk should be put next to your KR win.

6. The Crown itself has become cartoonishly large over the years. If you look at the crown Steve Kinser adorned in 1984, it was perfectly proportioned, rugged yet graceful.

We can get this race right again, it's just gonna take a little work.

Thanks in advance.

I know the Saturday afternoon show was decent for the circumstances but a $175k to win show shouldn't be run on a track that's "decent for the circumstances". It's just too much money in a sport with too little of it to justify running it in conditions that lead to fluke endings. Fully agree Saturday night was the best I've ever seen for Eldora, nearly every race was great.

Pretty much every state and county Fair ran afternoon races years ago.  Have you ever heard the term "rooster tails"?  We used to think they were cool to watch but todays fans apparently wouldn't tolerate an afternoon track.  Fortunately it's not common today but the track got racy when it rubbered up.  Sometimes stuff happens and it would have been tough on everyone to cram it all in any other way.

To the guy that wants to know why some PA guys top don't travel maybe you should sponsor one and see what it costs to run these huge events. Sponsors and money are everything. The outlaw guys run top notch equipment have huge sponsors like Tony , Kasey, Not energy, Stenhouse jr, etc. They never run old parts scramble for engines. Danny has a great sponsor and they too still struggle with costs. There are many in every state that love to race and cannot afford travel. So maybe instead of bashing those that can understand what it takes and put up the cash to help out. If you can't then don't bash the drivers. Sponsors are leaving the sport or l9ng time passing away. Don't see many young guys sponsoring teams. Very tired of folks wondering why teams don't travel. Their choice to decide and many money. They have nothing to prove to you or anyone.

I can see why some people don't like him, but I don't expect perfection. I just like to watch them race

I usually root for him in Allstar events & vs. Outlaws

I also respect ALL drivers for risking their lives for our entertainment!

what was wrong with the track conditions?  from a fan perspective...i couldn't see anything in the beginning...but then the dust settled and i got to see a great race.  not sure what the problem was.

brad sweet has multiple championships.  pressure doesn't get to him.

coming off his success in eldora...i'd like to see danny dietrich take over in pa for the last few months of the season.  these guys tend to run great for a while and then disappear.  he has the summer nationals to carry his momentum and hopefully he can back up what he did in eldora by not having to scramble to make the features at williams grove. if he can keep up his success and think twice about what comes out of his mouth or shows up on his twitter...that would be even better.

while i'm here...eldora is an amazing place.  it managed to keep an old school feel while keeping updated with things like appropriate safety upgrades.  nice to see a medical helicopter on site.  they actually act like a reputable sports venue.

"think twice about what comes out of his mouth or shows up on his twitter"

I don't care about any of that stuff

He can say what he wants (within reason) Controversial statements make it interesting, way better IMHO than generic thanking of sponsors & crew....

2. I haven't been to a Kings Royal since the late 1990's and was looking forward to the reading of the Summons (I think that's what Earl called it)
