I agree there is a balance to the cooperation so it doesn't go too far in order to keep the gates open. I can see some fans not attending if a track only gets 20cars and at that point the track has no backgate or front gate money so the problem fixes itself for other tracks. That's something for the promoters to focus on.

For me, and we have seen it on a few occasions, is if the Outlaws or All Stars are having races in the area. It would be nice for the other tracks to not race sprints to get the count up but I am probably going to go to the outlaw/all star event regardless, it wouy just be nice to see some more of the "local"/regional drivers. A lot of the all star drivers would probably race in any outlaw race in Ohio so it would be nice if there was cooperation there all the time to but business is business, I understand that it's just a wish.

As far as the WoO rules & costs I can tell you as a fan, I really don't care. I don't. I know it sounds selfish or whatever and there are plenty of fans around that view WoO as the black plague or the worst evil there is in the sport. As a fan of the sport who doesn't get caught up in rules or politics of the sport, if the have a race 3hrs from my house I am going. If someone else schedules a race closer to my house for $10-$20k to win on the same day, I'm still going to the Outlaw show. Judging from the crowd at Sharon with just 27 cars a few weeks ago, the probably made money. WVMS & Fremont, I'd say doubtful and probably not as much as they would have if they would have waited or maybe ran something else instead

There is more to other tracks running that kept the count low at the outlaw show. There just are a lot of local guys that don't run with the outlaws, granted if they knew only 27 cars were showing up maybe they would since there was a good chance you'd made the A and pocket a grand. But even someone who's always at Sharon, Jack Sodeman, raced at WVMS that night. Sharon's other races they had 41 at an ASCoC race, 30, and 38.

There are too many ASCoC races in ohio to worry about scheduling against and theres enough cars that the ASCoC event will pull a great field. I do think a good courtesy would be not scheduling against any outlaw show since those are hard to come by at Ohio tracks not named Eldora

I should clarify that I don't think of the WoO as an "evil empire."  However if we're talking about car counts for weekly tracks then following WoO technical rules isn't going to help increase the number of teams.

Weekly show car counts are going to be what they are no matter what the rules packages are. Of course you will probably get a handful of cars maybe but the quality of cars would probably be suspect. I always have viewed weekly shows that tracks run as to how resturants & retail stores view some items on the menu or shelf, lost leaders. A product sold at a loss to attract customers, the customer in this case would be the weekly racer. Yes could be used as a development tool to help those racers and are needed, but many tracks/promoters have said they do not make money on weekly shows, they make it on special events such as sanctioning bodies or their own big paying race. The weekly programs attract local/area talent to compete and "try" to make money so that they too will make it to the bigger shows. For those bigger shows say you have 20 regulars, combined with 8-10 guys from the sanctioning body, along with maybe 5-6 from another santioning body, mix in some guys that run anywhere with some other area talen the next thing you know you have 40-50cars, stands full, pitgate full, concession stand humming.

If another track is having another lost leader event during another's big event, I can see some people getting their egos out of control and start scheduling against the other track for their future big event. At that point, economics starts winning.

I'm the opposite of that. I'll support a local show anytime they are running against the outlaws. In fact it wouldn't change my life or race schedule much at all, if the WOO didn't exist.

Good for you. You are probably in a very small group of fans that feels that way but you do you. In our society everyone has the right to do and like what they like. There are just some groups that are bigger than others

Correct there were other factors that kept the count low for the Outlaw show at Sharon. I still had a good time and really did not have a problem with the 27 that showed up. Yeah it would have been a bonus to see some of the All Stars & more area drivers try to get a good finish against the Outlaws especially knowing that Blaney won. Even with just 27 cars the stands were packed and they had a decent count with the support class so I would say the track probably made money. WVMS with the purse they had along with their car count in both classes, and from what my buddy told me the fan count, I would say they probably didn't. Could be wrong on both accounts and do not really care, it just makes me chuckle a little bit when I see some of the complaints from people about car count, tracks not doing well, closing, etc because it is things like that weekend that create those issues.

I would agree on both that there are too many ASCoC races in Ohio to worry about scheduling against although the number or races seems to have gone down in recent years. I do think it would be a good courtesy as well for the other Ohio tracks not to schedule against Outlaw shows in the state especially since there have been several fans and tracks complaining for years about not being able to get an Outlaw date.

I have heard from some people that parts are getting hard to come by and if they can't get parts they can't race.

It is about time people got over this shit already & went back to work. Inventories on just about everything are getting low.

Lincoln with 30 is the only track in central PA this weekend has or had a full field.

Just wanted to point  out that the circus comes to town the same week every year.

You are right, Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal not as big as the Lincoln race yesterday because they are sanctioned..... do you hear yourself??

I didn't say that.  I said Port needs to be sanctioned in order to get 40 + cars.

All I here is port is the premier track in PA....if that were true they would have full fields in sprints an late models every time they race.  Not one week without a full field.  I guess they are not as important as some on here believe!!

Hey, I heard the pump went out for the water trucks on Saturday morning.  They don't need any hinderance from putting water on the track.  My friend was there and said it was a treat at best.  He said something about calling Mike Cleck Paving early in the night.

If gas prices continue towards 5 and 6 dollars, car counts will go straight downhill.  And many fans will find it too expensive to attend.  Or they will reduce what races they travel.  And diesel.  Scary.
