You'll have to be old, like me, and from the Missouri area to probably remember these: "Torch" and "Spark" Alshire. Kevin, do you still read this board? Didn't your dad and Torch have some classic battles? Thanks Mike, I knew I had heard the "Hurryin' Hoosier." Oh, and how about Cliff "Woody" Woodward.

On Tuesday, we had Jason Johnson on "Winged Nation" and I LOVE his nickname "The Ragin Cajun".....hope you listened to the show, if you missed it here is a link:

http://www.motorracingnetwork.com/Media-Center/Audio/Winged-Nation.aspx

And, that got us thinking about great sprint car nicknames and some of the stories behind them. Here is a list that was tweeted to us:

“Ragin Cajun” – Jason Johnson

“Wild Child” – Jac Haundenschild

“Fast” Freddie Rahmer

“The Apollo Rocket” – Ed Lynch

“The Hammer” – Doug Esh“

Thr Jet” – Jeff Shepherd

“The Man from Mifflintown” – Keith Kauffman

Cliff “Grandstand” Doil – named after flipping his car into the stands

“Slammin’” Sammy Swindell

Danny “Catfish” Lasoski

So, what are your favorites that we've missed here?

I know some people call Danny Lasoski "Catfish" cause he usually runs the bottom, but he will always be "The Dude" to me. I skimmed through and maybe I missed it but I didn't see: Rick Ferkel "The Ohio Traveller", Steve "The King" Kinser, "Smoke" Do I have to say anymore? and on a more regional level, "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison. I might be able to come up with some more let me think about it.

Back in the day when Jac Haundschild drove for Bob Hampshire his nickname was Jumping Jac Haundschild,he won a race and got docked two positions because of his nickname.Thats when they change his nickname to the Wild Child!
