Yes its me, i know there are motors out there running stock cranks, powder metal rods and hyper pistons . But you are asking for trouble going to big tracks with those parts. They will last a while but will eventually crack and break . Its not worth risking the entire engine to save $400.

track size is important to how long a engine will last. Knoxville is 5/8 th mile. You basically run car wide open all the time. I would freshen up a Knoxville 305 every year. On smaller tracks you have to breath engine which take alot of load off engine. You also can not run a steep wing angle on 305. I guess if I was smart on 305 I would have not blown up 2 engines.

I ran just a basic cheap set of rods and pistons in the motor I had in '05, it didn't last a whole season before breaking 7/8 rods. I built this one in '06 and it's been running ever since, the only thing I've done is change intake gaskets. If the crank was going to break it would have done it long ago.

Putting a Racesaver car together to run at Canandaigua in NY, so thanks a ton for the good advice on here. Will a welded steel circle track oil pan work OK? Forged pistons? Cast?Hyperteutechnic? Who sells a balanced rotating assembly at a good price (Forged Crank, H-Beam rods, Flat top pistons)? Thanks
