I've got $20 for the next race when none of the Williams cars flip. Hell, that will likely be the first race since they never seem to run long enough in the night to turn over. I've also got $50 to the first night all three cars make the main, and all cars finish the main without causing a yellow or red or go to the work area. Anyone want to add to this, it could start an off season pool for another dash. We could call it the "Oh my god, the Williams had a successful night - Dash"

I notice, in the seasons points standings, that 2 of the Williams were in the top 10 in points at the end of the season. They must be doing something right.

Hats off to the Williams Team and their generous sponsors, the Jorys. Thanks to all that they do. They are a joy to watch every night and are always competitive.

"Chris Holt

Without taking anybodys side here, I do have to say that if a driver isn't getting upside down once in a while he probably is not trying hard enough! "

What would you say to a driver who went 6 years + without getting upside down while winning 60+ races?

Say there.... Top Row....have some Guts ..weigh in.... and take a side.... How can you sit on the middle of the fence on these comments by Dummy in regards to the Williams racers.....3 loyal supporters of the PAS.... as well as their car owner the Jorys who pay the bills ???

Jeremy's name was brought up... with very few tip overs Jeremy is one of those drivers that seems to be aware of what is going on ahead of him, and most often stays out of trouble. You could probably count on one hand how many times he's had a close look at the clay. He's also one of my favorites to watch when he gets pissed, that boy can put on a show.

C'mon, Mike, the USAC/CRA points deal isn't that big of a deal.

DG finished 10th in points while running the full USAC National sprint car tour... so if he can get to 10th while running a limited schedule, how many teams actually ran for points this year?

With due respect. Just goes to show that every time Damion Gardner came to town he kicked ass. Tell Mike Spencer, Danny Sheriden, Matt Mitchell, David Cardey (who started the season very strong yet finished 11th), And a host of other racers that the points race "isn't that big of a deal". I submit that any of them could answer your point better than I.

I would have to agree....the current CRA points deal is a snoozer...okay maybe that's a bit harsh, but, I can remember a time when running top ten in season points was a major accomplishment even if you ran ALL the races.

When you're tenth in your class and you ride the short bus, as Dummy obviously did, it may not be significant! When you compete and risk your life in ANY USAC division it is a great accomplishment! These and all of the rest of the guys out there deserve our gratitude for giving us some great excitement all year long!

I don't ask this to be contentious. But what is different now that makes it so it is not a major accomplishment to run in the top ten?

I'm with Mike on this one, I thought we had a very competitive year, I saw some great racing, (If the year was a more tradtional number of races, Demon would not have been in 10th). So here is my solution...Come to the races next year, bring a friend, fill the stands and the event count will go up. Look at the schedule on the internet, copy-past- print, display it where ever you can, we have a decent car count with the best show in town, we just need more new race fans in the stands. Can't think of what to get someone for the Holidays? Season tickets might be the answer !!

I think that its these couch racers playing Sprint Car Wee Wee thinking they could do what these actual racers are doing that makes them feel that way. The real difference is when the real racers jump the cushion they crash. When these Sprint Car Wee Wee racers jump the cushion they fall off of the couch and wet themselves!

As I mentioned in another post, Gardner finished 10th in the standings while only running in 44% of the points paying events (11 of 25). If he had done that while others competed in 20 or more events, his accomplishment would be outstanding. As it is, he does get an "at a boy" for beating 3 teams but just those three. After that, there wasnt anyone to challenge for the 10th spot. Here is how they finished from 10th to 15th and their number of races ran in the 2010 season:

10th: Damion Gardner: 11 races

11th: David Cardey: 14 races

12th: Rickie Gaunt: 16 races

13th: Jimmy Crawford: 14 races

14th: Bud Kaeding: 8 races

15th: Chris Windom: 9 races

As you can see by these numbers, not one of the above ran more than 65% of the total events contested. To have BK and Windom in the top 15 with single digit numbers further shows a problem with a lack of teams coming out to race on a regular basis. Multiple factors are the root of the cause with lack of revenue to afford to race the number one reason.

The racing was good and entertaining and Chris is correct in asking people to help get more fans in the stands. If that doesnt happen, purses shrink, races get cut and teams go away. Its not something I like to admit but our sport is on life support in most areas of the country. A "key" solution is getting the kids of today to like what we offer in the way of entertainment. If the kids dont care to go to the races, the parents just take them somewhere else.

Ha Ha...what a stupid comment from an armchair quarterback named Chuck....who if the truth be known ..... probably can't even make it up the stairs on race night to the 10th row.

Chris,

Just curious? How much are season tickets? I never thought about that, before.

Do season tickets also get you in the Oval National races? I should ask are there any sprint car races that season tickets cannot be applied too.

I assume you buy them online on the perrisautospeedway site.

When do they become available?

And do you know if there will be any ASCS non-wing races at the PAS next year? I did not see the PAS on the 2011 ASCS schedule, but I did see some TBD dates. Maybe the PAS is goin' to run a show or two.

I will comment. I have not been to Perris for a while and when I went to the Glenn Memorial I was a little surprized at the price. It was 25.00 dollars. I did not realize it cost that much to watch a race. Times are a changing.

Sincerely,

Larry Otani

P.S.

And hope everybody has a fine Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I did notice a lot of people donated money for the laps. A lot of people have given to the racers.

To Larry: Regarding season tickets at Perris Auto Speedway.

This is what I paid last year (2010) If you bought a minimum of 25 tickets the cost was $10.00 per ticket. If you bought less than that, the cost went up per ticket but not by a lot.

Tickets were good for every 410 sprint car race or the PASSCAR races including the Oval Nationals EXCEPT for the Southern California Fair race which was $2.00 if you came in the first hour they opened and $8.00 later. Not sure if they were good for the Demolition Derby’s etc.

Also, for the 4th of July race, I was able to exchange ticket for ticket for a reserved seat. I bought 25 season tickets, exchanged some of them for the 4th of July race.

Season tickets become available sometime after the first of the year. Call Tanner or Kim at (951) 940-0134 Wednesday thru Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.

You can’t get a better deal with PAS season tickets. Enjoy the races!

This is a well thought out post John. I would add to it that one of the things that makes it a major accomplishment to win any points race, regardless of the competition, is the commitment of time and treasure it requires to show at all, or a high percentage, of the events.

I just looked at the numbers and found them intriguing. You coming back out here next month for the races?
