Come on OKC! Your answer is easy.

He is a stand on the gas guy and his attitude burns a lot of people. He looks & acts like an X Games star in a sport where clean cut, all-American types stand out more positively.

He lost his Nascar ride when he missed a driver's meeting. That shows a guy with immense talent & a 2 cent brain pi*&ing away a golden opportunity to the big time.

Why do people have a problem with him? Make a list.

I, along with a lot of people, remember his actions in the Knoxville A main a few years back that had a big outcome on the finish.

Are any of these reasons valid? Who knows. They still exist. Not everybody is enamored with the California skateboarder mentality for better or for worse.

Your free to your opinion and I respect that but in my opinion sprint car racing is missing a HUGE potential fan base if they are not looking at the alternative sports youth segment. Fortunately teams out here on the west coast seem to get it and offer hip/stylish apparel for sale and have an open mind about youth culture. At least in my experience anyways.

Not everyone bases their opinion on whether someone is the "clean cut all American type". Jan Opperman comes to mind... he was a west coaster who didn't dig dressing nice or talking nice to impress people, he just kicked ass on the racetrack.

Don't want to get in a pi$$in match about T-Dub,

however when I read ur post i had to say something. I've met Tyler this year through a certain racing team(put 2 and 2 together) and u hear rumors about him, well let me tell u tyler is a very nice guy very gracious to everyone, thanks everyone after the races. so don't always judge a book by its cover. in my actual dealings with tyler he's a very nice guy who i watched with one foot in the car before a heat race sign an autograph for a young girl, seems to have gotten a bad wrap due to his x game star look. talk to the guy first then, form ur opinion. again only met him this year, can't comment on his past.

Bigdog

I for one could care less how a driver looks or how they talk when they are being interviewed, my only concern as a fan is how they drive, I watched as Tyler made one of the worst attempts at a slide job ever. It was at Manzanita going into turn three and the Gasman was way to far in front of him to try to do what he did, the wrecked that he caused could have killed the Gasman. I understand he has changed his life and lifestyle for the better and I hope that is true.

I've seen Tyler put on some amazing performances in a Sprint Car...moves that make you wonder if the cars were going to make it out of the corner. I love his aggressive style & I'm glad he's racing here in PA again.

Good to see him get the #17 to victory lane at Port last night...the team is turning the corner with better things to come!

2 of you copied my post respectfully, I have no issue with any comments about it.

I wanted to point out... if you read my post... very little of it is opinion, I'm trying to state what I perceive as common knowledge stuff. I believe the Busch Series meeting missed was Watkin's Glen... you can read about that online as well. You have to tag the end of the field if you miss the driver's meeting, so it was a big deal... especially on a road course.

If you look at 2 fringe sports that have tremendous sponsorship (PBR bull riding & arenacross)... I'd do what I could to draw some of that $$$ to sprint cars.

I personally don't care what a driver looks like. Earrings... pony tail... pink hair... no hair... who cares? I like drivers for what they do on the track.

I pretty much gave up on the notion of my opinion of drivers from pitside interactions. That won't work. Very few drivers post-race are a delight to be around. There are some exceptions, but unfortunately they are the exception and not the norm anymore.

I like drivers for what they do on the track and their performances I read about.

Except for Wayne Johnson lol. That is one cool dude in my opinion!!!!! He's one lottery ticket away from fully-funded ride!!!! (I better go buy that ticket) Been around him a dozen times in the pits and never go away disappointed. (except when he was out of tshirts... that wasn't triumphant)
