The kid was very impressive, some great moves and then held the lead with Whitt right behind waiting for any little mistake. There is some amazing young open wheel talent out there.

Sometimes I think the Steve and Sammy show wasn't quite as awsome as I remember. Wrong. Sammy was incredible enough to constantly beat the best driver/wrench combo of all time with next to no help. If there has ever been a better mechanic that can hop in the seat and drive it even harder than he works on it, I'd like to hear who it is. He doesn't go balls out like he used to but if he felt like putting it on the limit and felt like he had something to prove we would still see performances like this weekend on a regular basis. Thanks Sammy for a lifetime of thrills.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Is there anywhere I can see the payouts? Every year this race gets bigger and bigger, i'm dying to know the payouts.

Chili Bowl payouts have been a long time secret. although I think that the winner of Saturday's final gets between $10K and $15K. but it drops rapidly from there.

No one makes money off of the Chili Bowl except Lanny and Emmett; and maybe the city of Tulsa......

I don't know who makes money that races now days, but I did hear the Mayor

of Tulsa say a few years back that the Chili Bowl was second only to the fair

for bringing money to the city. That was back a few years ago when there was

some rumors of moving the Chili Bowl to Houston I think it was. He also said that

the Chili Bowl would ALWAYS be welcome in Tulsa.

On one of the local Tulsa news stations, they were saying the Chili Bowl brought in over $10 million to local businesses. Not sure how accurate that particular local news station was.... but that's what they were reporting.... Smile

A promoter not associated with the Chili Bowl told me the winner got $10,000, and there is a $50 Lap Leader award.

So, if Kevin lead all 50 laps and won, he walked away with $12,500.

never have been a sammy fan. as far as the kid goes, hats off to him. if he keeps his attitude in check he will be a great showcase for the swindells.

remember the years that sammy took a few years off to help the kid with his career, it paid off. go kevin...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...
