Kevin has him with 141 prelims and 547 regular, that makes 688 total out of the 873 in his career. That leaves 85 "other" feature wins...

Where is he at on the all-time Knoxville win list? I haven't looked at the all-time Knoxville 410 win list in a while, but Kinser has to be top five all-time there.

The very first World of Outlaw race was a 2 day show at the Devil's Bowl. Jimmy Boyd has always been credited for the first WoO A feature win... but no. Friday night Bobby Marshall won - and I have always felt that his name should be in the record books for the first WoO win. After all - he was racing the same field as Sat. night. I have never understood why the "preliminary" features were not counted.

There are almost no "preliminary" features now. Friday and Saturday are 2 seperate shows and finishing in the top 4 Friday night gets you nothing on Saturday.
The only exceptions nowadays are the Knoxville Nationals and the Gold Cup.

Obviously Prelims should count. Whoever came up with the rule that they shouldn't is an idiot. And to count them now and not back then is even more stupid!

No the Nationals and Gold Cup prelims do not count. They are the only prelim nights that don't count anymore.

And Kinser didn't compete against the "locals" in those wins either, unlike the guy on the top. I don't want to take anything away from the Dude or Wolfie's accomplishment. Wolfie had a decent amount of weekly show wins in his total, but nothing like the Dude. Dude biggest competition was Terry McCarl and Randy Smith. Kinser was running against the WoO in every one of his wins. Steve Kinser is the undisputed King in any sprint car catagory. I think he has 7 wins in USAC.

He has 2 USAC Sprint wins at Eldora and 1 each at Terre Haute and the old Chicago track, Santa Fe Speedway.
He has 2 Silver Crown wins at Eldora and 1 at the Indy Fairgrounds.
