Fans, drivers and teams are tired of Larson winning everything. Larson, sandbagged it and gave his good buddy the win. Racing pretty much sucked all night like the Series is beginning too!

ditto here

I thought the exact same thing.

People are getting a little tired of High Limit turning into the KL Benefit series.

He and Rico are best buds and Rico's parents helped fund Kyle's early racing career.  So last night was a little Thank you.

Kyle already showed is feelings for Kyle earlier this year or do we all forget the infamous heat race.  The one where Kyke officiated from the drivers seat.

People who are now throwing HL under the bus are the same people who pack places like the Grove to see a WoO parade with a pool of competitors with a realistic chance to win a whopping 4 drivers. Yet no one criticizes them becasue it the WoO.

Don't like the HL, then start your own midweek series that pays big $. Don't like Larson winning, then step it up and beat him and Silva. Last night I saw Abreu, Marks, Dietrich, and others run and maintain speed with Larson. But last night was "a little thank you" to other drivers becasue he let them win. LOL.

The real issue to me was the lack of support from the PA teams. The fact that you had the lowest car count of the HL season (yes, I know that the All Stars are in MO) in what is supposedly a sprint car "hot bed" paying 23 grand is pitiful.

Larson gave one to his buddy!!   That is a hoot!!  Society has become dumber over the past 3 years.  But somehow, sprint car fans have managed to outpace the rest of the population.

Looks like the honeymoon is over between the fans and the High Limit series.  6 months ago (according to many WoO haters) the High Limit series was going to bankrupt and replace the WoO.  Now, 27 cars is not enough, the fields are blah, and they're not even real race cars.  This sounds about right.

Six months ago as you point out some were predicting that the High Limit would replace the Outlaws and everyone loved Kyle.  Now High Limit is being called the KL retirement fund and he's a bum for taking money from the local drivers.  They make it clear up front that High Limit was strictly a specials only series that would not be going head to head but they did make an exception due to the Tuesday rainout.

I remember back when the Outlaw regulars wanted less mid week one night show.  I can't provide names but my understanding was that midweek races were difficult with all the traveling so the WoO cut back on midweek shows and put the emphasis on multi day weekend events.  Then a younger bunch of racers came along who weren't around when that change took place and demanded more week night specials which gave rise to High Limit.  Now we're seeing teams backing out of the schedules they put out at the start of the year.  Meantime I think people are seeing why there is a limit to how often these teams can race.  It doesn't help that it has been so hot all over the country as that is taking the wind out of a lot of sails this season.

I am not saying I predicted anything but I'm not surprised either.  Older fans will recall the push by the Outlaws to cut back on midweek racing.  I find the whole thing somewhat entertaining just watching the fan reactions to something a lot of us saw coming.

Grandview is out of the "hotbed" a little ,its more of a eastern modified hotbed the few 410 shows they race each year rarely gets high car counts.

After watching the race I feel Kyle LET Rico get the win. I think If Kyle keeps winning in the High Limit series most everybody will cry about him winning. So it looked like Kyle let his little buddy get the win to calm things down. I bet if it was big money race Rico would have never got by Kyle. That will not happen at Knoxville you can take that to the bank. Its entertainment guys and making money for the promotors. Be grateful to see Mr. Larson race sprint cars. He is sure not doing it for the money. He's doing it for us fans and love of the Sport. I wish everybody would quit whinning about Larson. If I was a driver I would love just to race against and said I beat him.  Let's face it. Larson is so talented. Just enjoy what you are witnessing. I have not seen this great of talent since Tony Stewart and AJ Foyt. Sit back and enjoy!!!

If Larson isn't doing it for money, why was he selling merchandise last night? He sold a lot. Which he usually does and I didn't see him handing out anything for free. You hit your head if you think he left Rico win. Do you really think Larson cares what a bunch of internet hero worshippers think? Hell no. Just as many people are gonna buy tickets to see him win or lose and I'll guarantee you one thing, better not let Paul Silva find out he gave a race away because Paul still gets his cut like any other car owner. If Kyle lets someone else win, Silva will boot his ass right up between his shoulder blades.

Several people think Kyle let Rico win... I was there & it didn't look that way at all. Kyle was going for it all the way

Its possible, but I doubt it

I was there too. End of the frontstretch. Kyle was gassing the hell out of it right til the end. You could hear that he was burying the tack as he went by me. He got very free off the corners. Rico had a car that Ricky Warner wrenched so as expected, it came on in the last 10-12 laps and was money right through the slick and came off the corners like a scud missle. If someone saw Larson give an inch, they just saw what they wanted to see.

How much do you think Larson had to pay Peck, Schurenberg and Marks to let Rico pass them?

Why does everyone say "Well the whole field had to be in on this "

I believe 100% that Kyle was trying to win the race, but Rico getting by  might been an action of opportunity moment for Kyle. I say Rico was the only driver and possibly Lance that Kyle would have lifted the pedal a little for.  Also Why does everyone think Kyle wouldn't have made it look good, that he was trying his damnedist to pass Rico.  You put on a show for the fans.

We already have proof to fall back on that Kyle stopped his car to overrule or he just made the decision  himself to get Rico back in the lead of the heat race.  We don't know if Kyle would have done it for any other driver , he can say I would have done it for anyone; but he actually did it for Rico. We all saw him do it.

What would everyone be saying if Kyle won another HL race.  People are saying it now, this is turning into the Kyle Larson Benefit series.  Another thought if Kyle wins 8 of 12 races or 7 , whatever,  how will that look for the series going forward. How many racers will want to run it next year.  I  know I will.get hammered for this next statement,  but I don't think Kyke or any racer should be able to race a series they own.  Does anyone truly believe that any of the tech men or other officials would put their jobs on the line to make a call on Kyle.  He signs all there paychecks.  Let me use a simple analogy.   If you coached a baseball team and it came time to play the game and you found out the the umpires of the game were related to the opposing coach.  Would you all shrug it off or be this isn't right.

I am not saying Kyle's car is illegal,  but really would anyone truly trust the HL tech man to go over the car with a fine tooth comb of the man who can fire him.

Plus Kyle has raced for 12 years or whatever in the biggest "show" series in the world.  It doesn't take much research to find the quotes from Bill France Jr.  He said " winning by a car length is the same as winning by 10 seconds" .  He meaning behind the quote was to put on a show.  When Jeff Gordon was dominant in the late 90's , his team had code words for him that if he got more than a 4 second lead Nascar would throw the caution.   So Jeff would slow down.  Read Michael Waltrip's book about the 2001 Daytona 500.  Dale Sr. came to his bus and said here is the plan, we are going to push you to victory.  Michael said what about Dale Jr?   Dale Sr. said he knows the plan and he is going to push. Do I  think Dale and Dale Jr. didn't want to win the race,  No they wanted to win but if Michael was in the lead then they didn’t want to win it was stick to the plan.

So my long winded point is yes , Kyle wanted to win.  But he had an action of opportunity moment and said maybe from a business standpoint it was better for Rico to win.  Now everyone is all stoked for the next Rico and Kyle show. Hey it sells more tickets and T - shirts.   Remember it is all business $$$$.

Its possible, but thats a serious accusation with no proof

Why didn't everybody else pass him too? How did Rico get to 2nd? Kyle had no control over that..... plus, he almost caught Rico after initial pass. How did he know it was Rico behind him? No rear view mirrors....

no mirrors but they all can read the scoeboard...

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

You are correct.  I was pointing out that slowly, the fans on social media have begun to turn on the High Limit series. There was complaint of "only" 27 cars-----in the middle of the week.  Has me laughing.  They give them 27 cars, a packed house, stars like Rico and Larson, and still the grumpy old "get off my lawn" guys show up to complain.

I hope the High Limit series is back for 2024 and beyond.  I hope everyone enjoys what they have given the fans for mid-week entertainment.  I also hope the pipe dreams that this formula is going to turn the WoO series upside down subside quickly and people can just enjoy it for what it is.

I am just appreciative of having Mid week sprint car racing to watch. As always people will find things to bitch about. I was a huge Steve Kinser fan and loved his determination and skill to kick ass. The same holds true with Kyle Larson. He is the current "once in a generation" talent. So my take is to sit back and watch and observe his talent in all the series we runs. He is a true grass roots racer and deserves every penny he earns.

I hope it stays around, but unfortunately I won't be watching it.    I've canceled Flo and their coverage of things left much to be desired IMO.    Would be great if it could be shown on DirtVision somehow.    A better format might help too rather than a rehashed copy of the WoO format.   To me the series just comes off as another WoO event without many of the top WoO drivers present.

You're correct, it won't happen at Knoxville.   If Kyle is a factor at Knoxville I'd bet it's Mr. Schatz he's contending with rather than Rico.
