$30,000 to win show is not going to be no $15 to get in.

Re-read the post.     You missed the context.

I kinda laugh when I see WoO drivers complaining about purse $ inbetween tweeting pics of their $4000 custom painted helmets & fully outfitted motor coaches & money printing t-shirt rigs.

Better start listening to their premier drivers, because they want change and more opportunities for bigger purses... $10,000 to win isn't going to cut it anymore.

Where are the going to go if they don't like what the WoO is doing?  A dozen Tuesday night races and the All Stars would be a step down from a Platinum World of Outlaws season.

I never pay much attention to what races pay.  Nobody has ever shared their winnings with me and my focus is on paying my way and covering the costs if there is travel involved.  Any 410 race up my way is never going to be the High Limit series.  We're too far off the beaten path and not centrally located.  High Limit means nothing more to a lot of us than something to watch on TV on a Tuesday night.

Stan,

I've had that same thought. What is better out there? This is becoming a duplicate post.

The tracks in route between races that can handle a HL series sprint car race?

I kinda laugh at people like you.

The majority of WoO Drivers are getting 50% max as a driver. Avg finish could be around 8th? 8th pays $2,100., so they are getting $1,050 (Minus taxes as they are 1099, so 25% off that), $750. Times 50 Races is $37,500. Maybe some point fund at the end of the year, but thats also split.

Now, expenses: Most have a motorhome (None are new, some are nicer than others, but let's say somehow they are FREE). Diesel to go all over the country traveling about 40,000 Miles a year, at 6 MPG, with Diesel at $5 a gallon. Roughly $33,000.

Additionally; Maintenance on the RV, food, insurance, mortgage (Assuming they don't live in their lavish RV you think they all have), kids, savings, etc.

T Shirts do well for them, but I don't know the numbers, but you realize that could be the ONLY $$ a driver might make a year. Not to mention they are moving that all over the country, and they have to keep up on them as well.

Helmet Paint..... C'mon. Sponsors, painters, and brands are covering most, and they aren't $4,000, lol.

To conclude, you sir are a moron who has never owned a car, and likely doesn't own a calculator. Sponsor a car and get a T Shirt trailer if they are such money printers.

I guess if you're considering Kraig Kinser and Bill Rose, your math makes sense, but most Woo drivers make way more than your example.

The top 5-6 teams all gross between $400-600k. Not sure if the drivers get a pure 50/50 split of that but it's close. In addition, you have the t-shirt business which can be thousands of dollars per race. Of course there are expenses associated with traveling and that eats into profit, but I'd imagine the top WoO drivers make a pretty decent living.

Is Farley Racetrack still in business? I know WoO has raced there in the past. Actually in the late 80's Farley was the 1st WoO race I ever saw. I remember Doug Wolfgang was not there due to an injury the night before which sucked because he was the driver I wanted to see.

And there is West Liberty. Has concrete walls but not much for fencing to keep the cars in the track.

Don't forget about the opportunity cost that might come about by not having a higher paying non racing job.....that has longer term employment potential.  Nothing worse than waking up after racing and finding out you have no work skills, while many of your friends are well into a secure career with nice benefits.

I really doubt that any driver would trade thier time racing 70+ nights a year for a 9 to 5 job.   If they were wired that way, they would not be a WOO driver to begin with.  You have to look at life a little different if you are a driver.

Now if we are talking about crew guys, you may have a better arguement.

That thousands in tshirt sales is more likely gross sales rather than net.

The net profit on $1,000 sales of T-shirts (50 shirts) is about $700.  Not a bad mark-up.  And then there's the hats, hoodies, die-cast etc.  I have heard that the marketing of these merchandised items can be a real point of contension between owners and drivers.

I believe their plan is to base it off of the late model version that streams on Flo.  That series was setup to do mid week shows but to try to hit tracks that don't typically get Lucas Oil or WoO shows so that different areas can have access to top notch drivers.  If that is the case I would guess they look at venues that aren't normally on the WoO or All Star schedule.

What you're describing is gross profit, not net profit. You still have to deduct the costs involved with selling the shirts.

I have no problem with what any person makes or wants to make. It's none of my business and there is no reason to guess on what a driver makes or spends.

Looking at Husets schedule one would think they are banking and putting on a High Limit show between Knoxville and Jackson Nationals

I'm guessing that the High Limit series runs at tracks that don't have Outlaw dates for the WoO Sprints and Late Models.
